Post Herschel,VD was 50-18-2.Including a top 5.

Not great but certainly not a bad record at all.

When did UF surpass Auburn & Tech as UGA's biggest rival?

Not sure. I mean also is it really a rivalry? I mean when one team wins roughly once every 6 years or so, that's not a rivalry. It's like calling Vandy-Tennessee a rivalry.

I think you mean like calling Tennessee-Bama a rivalry.

During the Dooley era a lot of teams beat up on us. Things change. Just accept our greatness (less the Muschamp years) and the annual game in Jax will be a lot easier for you to tolerate.

Vince Dooley needed Hershel Walker to win. Dooley's O minus Walker was like 2014 LSU, even worse. Buck Baleau completed only 1 pass in the 1980 national title game and they still won.

This isn't a slam on Dooley, it's to point out his kind of ball wouldn't work in modern times.

Someone should have told Will Muschamp this fact.

And Dooley was a shite show vs Auburn and CMR owns them.
And he also has more bowl victories in 14 years than Dooley had in 25 and more top 10 finishes.

Get out of here with your facts. What do you think this is?

We fired Charlie Mac for not beating Bama.

Not to hijack the thread, but this is bullshite revisionist history. If we were going to fire him for not beating Alabama, we sure as hell would not have waited 18 years until he was 2-14 against them. He got fired because not only did he keep losing to Alabama, but he also started losing to Mississippi State, Kentucky, and others. His last six years' records were

5-5-1 (losses to Texas A&M, Florida, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi St., tie to Rice)*
4-7 (losses to Nebraska, Texas A&M, Florida, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Alabama, Mississippi State)**
6-4-1 (Losses to Florida, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi State, tie to Nebraska)***
8-4 (Losses to Indiana, Kentucky, Alabama, Stanford)
8-4 (Losses to Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi State, Missouri)
7-5 (Losses to USC, Georgia, Florida State, Alabama, Tulane)

* Later changed to 6-4-1 when Mississippi State had to forfeit its win
** Later changed to 5-6 when Mississippi State had to forfeit its win
*** Later changed to 7-3-1 when Mississippi State had to forfeit its win

I assume you mean started coaching? BTW Both Dooley and Spurrier first years (1964)were with Spurrier a soph QB and Dooley a first year coach at UGA (oh, Dooley went to AU as a player). So they started out same time.

Dont under estimate Dooley as a coach against UF...most of you werent even a gleam in your daddys eye yet. UF had some good teams and Dooley had our number. Dooley coached for over 20 yrs at UGA...thats why he became AD...a common practice back in those days when ADs were just figureheads and a way to give cushy job to long time football coaches. I was very glad to see Dooley retired as HC.

And Florida never won an SEC Title until the 1990's ??

SO ? Your point loses it relevance when facts are brought in. Not saying you arent right, just equating the circumstances.

Dooley took how long to win a title? I find it hilarious how overrated he is. It took Walker to win a title...and he basically just handed it off too him. Took such a brilliant mind.

Im not talking about Dooleys overall record..Im talking about his ability to beat UF. He beat the shite out of us 51-0 in 1968. ...there was no Herschel on that team...thank God. In 1976 we had 2 TD lead at halftime...he got his team to score 28 to 0 in second half. Dont tell me about Dooley and the Gators.

BTW we did win the SEC title in 1984 but had the title taken away for violations...we had a very very strong team in 1984-85.

Dooley retired before Florida exploded, its not really fair to look at it that way- it's like how Mark Richt probably has a better record vs Tennessee than any Dawg coach ever.

^This. Back when Dooley coached UGA, Florida was a inconsistent program that had yet to really break through and join the world of elite programs. It's ridiculous to compare Dooley's record to Richt's as Florida wasn't close to being in the same stratosphere it inhabits now.
