That’s actually pretty solid. Amazing how many otherwise “normal” people can pick up on inside information because of completely normal careers. Cable TV guys, Realtors, etc... always fascinating to keep up with during coaching searches.

At this point, I feel like the UT melt would be better than the Bama melt if that happened.

Far more of these are bullshite than real info. Calling the billboard company and telling them basically that you're firing your coach....they might as well put it on a billboard themselves.

My guess at this point is that he makes the season. What advantage do you get by bringing in an interim coach unless your hand was forced (ala Freeze).

I think there would be a clear advantage this year - with so many potential high profile job openings. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s given the option of finishing the year, but getting a jump start on the coaching search would be a huge advantage for UT, IMO.

I don't know. The last two prominent SEC jobs that had a jump start on their coaching search (South Carolina and LSU) ended up bungling the hiring process badly.

Truth, but this year is the first year of the Early December signing period. We are in uncharted waters now regarding how this will affect coaching hires moving forward

I dont even think a Bama win would save his job. Obviously we wouldnt be able to fire him Sunday/Monday, but this is still the last year of the Butch jones era at UT.

If he was brought back next season there would be 59 people at the home opener next year.

Now that is a well thought out high level troll.

Props to the "Insider".

Turns out they caught a pic of the "insider" spreading the rumor.

I think ETSU would bring more than 59.

That’s a fair point, although I don’t think USCe’s process was nearly as bad as LSU’s. If I were UT, I wouldn’t let that stop me. Gotta have confidence in your ability to go get your guy, and any head start you can get in talking to agents, etc... has to be a good thing.

As an alum of both...UT's choice in replacing Jones will help me decide which school's colors to wear for that game.
