He beat #4 USC his first year, the UGA and northwestern wins were impressive even though NW was supremely overrated. Saying he's won no big games is wrong. But I couldn't argue with saying he's only won a few of them

It's amazing that no one at UT studies history.

Just so we're all clear. Kongbo isn't even projected to be a starter, right now.

It's nice to have your two primary back ups at defensive end be five star athletic freaks (Kyle Phillips and Kongbo). We haven't had that in Knoxville for quite some time.

I am sure that beating UGA felt good because it was Georgia but it wasn't impressive. That team was not very good by Georgia standards.

I know this. But you ended up with 10 wins, top 25 In the coaches poll, and you had beaten us 5 years in a row. And we came back down from 21. Maybe it wasn't necessarily a big win in the national scope of things but it was huge for us.

I guess I can give you South Carolina, but Northwestern? Let's be serious. And beating Richt, in his annual "Richting up a game" that happens two or three times a season, especially the week after getting demolished by Alabama, isn't really an accomplishment.

He's won one "semi" big game. Against a South Carolina team 3 years ago.

There is a reason Kongbo decommitted from Tennessee before he recommited. Bama offered him and he thought he would be going to Bama. However, Saban visited him and he wasn't as big as Saban wanted. Bama needed a DT and not a DE, so Bama back off. Kongbo's dad wanted him to go to Ole Miss, after the Ole Miss boosters sent some green his way, but Kongbo never want to play in Oxford, so as said before when Bama backed off he went crying back to Tennessee. Jamar King took Kongbo's spot in Bama's class.

Tennessee would finish 4th in the west

Why not 8th? Surely all 7 are better than a lousy team like ours...

absolutely, no debate there.

I was just saying that the UT fans calling uga a "big win" are looking at it more from "we've lost to them for so long that damn it feels good to beat them" perspective. It didn't register nationally.

All joking and analysis aside, I'm bullish on the Vols. At some point all the dam talent they've been stockpiling is going to pay off. While UF has their # recently I don't see the streak going to 12. UGA could be very average or very good....or both as the season moves along. East is there for the taking. Only issue is the Bama game likely gives UT zero margin for error (although we've got Ole Miss early and away, will be a very tough task).
