Basketball season is quickly approaching and I just looked at USCe's non-conference schedule and I have to say it's a big improvement from last season. With Syracuse, Clemson, Seton Hall, Michigan and Memphis on the non-conference schedule, it'll be hard to argue that isn't one of the harder OOC schedules of the SEC. If you all can get through the OOC with maybe 1-2 losses and run a decent record through conference play, I see no issue with you all getting into the NCAA tournament.

Has the team improved since last year though? Did you lose some key players?

I know I busted y'all's balls last season for your schedule and said you wouldn't make the NCAA tournament. Consider this my redemption thread. Go Cocks.

Basketball is the one sport where you absolutely have to create a hard OOC schedule, especially when your team is in the SEC.

Absolutely, and USCe learned that the hard way last season when they had zero quality opponents in their OOC.

And if you're not a consistently good program, you have to find the sweet spot between games where your chance of winning is low and teams that you can realistically beat while also raising your SoS.

Yes we know. No one can compete with Kentucky's OOC under Calipari. He's certainly not afraid, not when he has 4-5 5* recruits coming in every season.

Just one or two losses from that means they are ranked very high. Nice schedule cocks.

I'm just hoping the replacements for Carrera and the Lithuanians can produce more consistently. If they can, it'll be a fun year for us.

We have a cool arena now. That's all I know about Ole Miss basketball.

A&M's OOC schedule worries me a little. It doesn't have a ton of star power.

USCw
VT/New Mexico (Wooden Classic)
Potentially UCLA/NU/Dayton (Wooden Classic)

Yeah, but you'll probably win all of those if your team remotely resembles last season's team. Arizona looks like the only potential loss. Is that one home or away?

Hopefully our young front court can make up the loss of the Lithuanians & Carrera. Should be an interesting year and I think we'll be in the mix for a NCAAT spot.

Were those 2 the backbone of the team though? I thought your back court was more of your strength.

Carrera was probably our best player last year. The Lithuanians were serviceable and had experience to back it up. Our current guys are just mainly Freshmen & Sophomores so they don't have a ton of experience yet. Mainly why I'm concerned, they're more athletic. Just need them to grow up quickly.

Back court with Thornwell, Notice, & PJ are definitely the strength of the team.

I gave them shite for it too. But now this year the tables have turned. Go take a glance at NC States OOC schedule its pretty terrible. Gott claims he had a lot of offers from teams to play and waited a couple weeks to finish off the recruiting class and then everyone was booked so he had to settle.
