Not surprised at all. Very disappointing year. And who buys full price end-zone tickets through the University when you can get better cheaper seats other ways.

We brought 30,000 people to the last crap bowl we went to -- the 2010 Papa John's Bowl in the Hood in Birmingham. Sold 8,593 out of the 10,000 ticket allotment.

Our last experience in Shreveport was a great game -- ultimately lost to Mizzou the same way we have lost games these season -- blow a big lead in the 4th quarter. It was kinda fun. I flew in on a gameday charter. Bus from the airport; 3 hours of tailgating before the game (locals were very welcoming); then bus back to the airport and home at 0-dark-30.

However, Shreveport as a travel destination two days after Christmas -- nope, sorry not going. Maybe we have 5,000 fans there; Miami even less.

Well beating Clemson had something to do with that as well. With the crap we pulled against them, combined with 3 4th QT melt downs this season I don't think Gamecock fans want anything more to do with this season.

VOL fans aren't excited about 6-6, theyre excited about where this program is headed. And not just VOL fans see that. We are headed back to the top of the east which is the NORM. Hell, we still beat Carolina in the rebuilding years.

The UT-USC dynamic is an important indicator of where the Vols are headed. It seemed that there was always the top 3 in the east of UT, UF, and UGA...not necessarily in that order...from year to year. Suddenly in 2005, Fulmer let USC get their foot in the door, and although he won in 2006 and 2007, he lost badly to USC in 2008. Kiffin briefly restored order in the relationship and likely would have kept the Cocks at bay. But Dooley came along and dropped three straight, and USC had firmly supplanted UT in that top group of three in the east, even winning the division in 2010.

But now Jones has come along and taken UT's spot back. The Vols should be excited...switching places with USC is the first important step in he process of getting back to the top. Of course, Mizzou is now a wildcard in that whole dynamic. But UT should feel good about the direction they're headed.

Sad day for Indy Bowl committee. Trust me, Miami will bring even less fans to Shreveport.

Yeah, we've had some down years. They resemble a&ms entire history, but we're on our way back. Everyone sees that.

Not sure what the SEC was thinking sending South Carolina there anyway......

Bottom of the barrel.

Belk Bowl didn't want us because SC fans are too close to get hotels and stay for a whole weekend.

I'm surprised the Liberty Bowl didn't get UT but I suppose that the hotels thing happened to them too.

SC fans certainly would have traveled to Jacksonville more than to Shreveport but the Gator Bowl knew how excited the Vol fans were about 6-6 and would sell a lot of tickets.

Sadly these things factor into future bowl bids. I am not surprised by the early sales, but I do expect them to pick up. USCe fans jumped off the wagon quickly this year around here. I also don't believe the Belk Bowl was an option once UGA declined the Outback.

SC's fluke 3 year run is over. They didn't get to capitalize much in that time period though.

Woah woah. UT has beaten one decent football team in the last two years. It's a bit early to crown them.

It's not about ticket sales to the SEC office, evidently. They knew damn well SC fans wouldn't travel to Shreveport. Happy we are in a pretty nice stadium in Houston, but Hog fans would have probably sold out Shreveport or Memphis.

No you guys don't. You guys were leaving on average 15K empty seats a game in Neyland before Butch came.

Any worse and we'd have to rename them Baylor East.

You realize that we were still top 10 in attendance in the nation right? When we weren't even 6-6 and wanted the coach fired. Try again

But the trophy is a pair of pressed Dockers slacks! Who wouldn't want a chance to win that for the ol' trophy case?

Clearly worth a weekend stay in Charlotte.

You guys have 6.5 mil in your state with probably 80 percent or more of the state Vol fans. I'd like to think you guys should at least stay top ten in attendance. However you guys went from 105k back in 07 to 88-89k a game before Butch. That's a huge drop off. Sorry if the statistics don't coincide with your previous statement, every fan base has their share of fair-weathers. But on the bright side Vols attendance is up and you guys beat us again, although it did take two hands this time
