Agree. Great offensive team and I love to watch them play but IMO they don't have the want to stop other teams from scoring. I would put them in the 10-15 range until they prove they can play some consistent defense.

The guy has gotten extremely lucky

Get the Kansas Job after the Larry Brown years, then go to UNC.

Just been thrown into situations that had already been established, and really hadn't needed to Build up anything because the Recruiting was still coming in even before he got there.

He's Overrated.

I expect one of the three freshmen to be able to come in and provide a threat from the outside, but with Gueye being out and very little front court depth, I think we are getting a tad too much hype.

Only the THIRD time that A&M has had a preseason ranking.

2006 - 13th (Sweet 16 heartbreaking loss to Memphis in San Antonio)
2007 - 16th (Year of the infamous UCLA game)
2011 - 19th

I think we are a little high at #10. We are paper thin in the front court. I would put us at #15 but I will take it.

Damn, UT has a hell of a schedule. They could be .500 and still have a top 20 RPI.

Keep listening to the national media pump up Carolina. How did that work out for you last season when Carolina played Kentucky in the regional final?

Cats will whip their arse in Rupp. 86-74 or thereabouts. You'll see. I'll show ya.

UNC may start off the season as the best team, but Kentucky has a much higher ceiling. Most talented UK team since 1996. Easily.

WTF?? UNC was one of the biggest overachievers last season, UK as well....both teams grew up at the time and UK won a great game!
UK is talented of course...but people forget UNC has 2 of top 10 freshmen in the country as well, difference is they are being asked to be role players...yours are being asked to carry the load! I'll take UNC and their hype all day buddy...they are sick!!

Excellent job of only quoting a portion of my previous post and thus removing the context. Kudos.

Kentucky freshmen aren't going to be asked to carry the load. Kentucky returns three starters from a Final Four team; Doron Lamb, Darius Miller (SEC Tournament MVP) & Terrence Jones. Anthony Davis and Marquis Teague will be asked to start as freshmen, but the three returning starters are more than capable of carrying the bulk of the scoring load.

As far as comparisons to last season, Teague isn't the scorer or shooter that Brandon Knight was, but he is probably a much more pure point guard, which will actually be a better fit for this particular squad. In the middle we replace Josh Harrellson with Anthony Davis. Who would you rather your starting center be? Yeah, that's what I thought. So basically at four of the five starting positions Kentucky is better than last season.

As far as the bench goes, last year the bench was basically Deandre Liggins. He's gone now, but in his place is Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Kyle Wiltjer & Twany Beckham. Again, which bench would you rather have?

This Kentucky team has greater depth and more fire power than last year's Kentucky team by a long shot. It is basically a more talented, more experienced, better shooting version of the John Wall led team in 2009-10. They will be scary good by February.

North Carolina is a great team. Probably the best team in the country in November. They will probably be the best team in the country for the first three months. Therein lies the rub. Kentucky's potential is greater. Their ceiling is higher. Once they get some games under their belt and have that extra Christmas Break practice time then they will be damned near unbeatable. The Tar Heels still have an identifiable weakness; poor outside shooting. That did my Cats in in 2010 and it will do the Heels in this season. Cats will cut down the nets. Tar Heels will 3-19 themselves from deep to an NCAA Tournament exit.
