Jackson, TN disagrees... That place gets absolutely hammered by twisters every couple years

Lived there for a year and it was rough. Downtown still hasn't fully recovered.

This is one of several reasons I'm glad I don't live down there anymore.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and stays safe. This doesn't sound good. I'm in Cape Girardeau, MO, and we have a blizzard warning tonight, so at least sledding with my niece and nephew tomorrow should be fun.

TOR:CON Value Descriptions

8+ Very high probability of a tornado
6 - High probability of a tornado
4 - Moderate chance of a tornado nearby, but hail and/or high wind gusts possible
2 - Low chance of a tornado, but hail and/or high wind gusts possible
0 - Near-zero chance of a tornado or a severe thunderstorm

The TOR:CON index ranges from 0 to 10. Multiply the value by 10 to get your chance of a tornado within 50 miles of a location. For example, a TOR:CON index of 6 means there's a 60% chance of a tornado within 50 miles of a location

James Spann just blogged that they might make some of the severe areas "high risk" around two. I only remember seeing high risk twice, the day of the Tuscaloosa tornado and earlier this year when a tornado hit that school in Indiana.

quote:

The slight and moderate risk area was just updated with little change by the SPC. There was some discussion about an upgrade to high risk in parts of the moderate risk area. It will be re-evaluated at 2 p.m. in their next issuance.
