UA statement regarding T-Town Menswear
July 26, 2011
Below is a statement from Mike Ward, University of Alabama Associate Athletics Director for Compliance, addressing recent inquiries regarding Mr. Tom Albetar of T-Town Menswear in Tuscaloosa:
"Our review of this matter was a part of our normal compliance program. We routinely look at all situations of potential concern. Based on our review of this matter, we concluded that Mr. Albetar was in compliance with NCAA regulations. It is not a violation for student-athletes to sign autographs and it is not a violation for a business to display photos, jerseys or other items depicting current student-athletes. We found no evidence that any student-athlete received any extra benefits.
Due to the concerns expressed in our letter to Mr. Albetar dated March 31, 2011, we disassociated him from our program. As we always do in matters of this nature, we discussed this matter with the SEC Office. Because we found no evidence of any NCAA violation, we did not self-report a violation. UA will continue to be proactive in all areas of compliance monitoring."
So this means no one bought any of the merchandise... it's just on display?

You disassociated this guy in March yet Travis is posting a pic of Tom and Your new line coach on the sidelines at the A-Day game on April 23rd?

Apparently, Auburn fans have been making lots of calls to the NCAA and the investigators are thrilled to have the extra eyes. It's really making them realize the folly of investigating Auburn when such uncommon grievances are occuring at the suit store. While almost every team has had a parent admit to shopping a player, there are few college towns where store owners make relationships with the University and collect memorabilia. Since Auburn has no worries of similar fan practices in Lee County, they encourage all Auburn fans to keep calling and telling them what is happening. They thank you in advance.

quote:Are you referring to the pic where you can see the letters LSU on the bottom of the pass? Is that the one? And where Terry Saban is wearing a totally different outfit than the one she is wearing from the A Day game? Or could you be referring to the pics of the kiosk that match the floor of Riverchase in Birnmingham and NOT the University Mall? Please, enlighten us all with your wonderful investigative skills a little more.

No no, that was from like, 3 nights ago. Basically I've been drunk every night since Sunday. The other night I drank a bottle of Beam, a glass of wine, and some shots my friend made. She's a bartender, so she made us some stuff with Bailey's in it. Apparently I then tried to convince her to give me the bottle of Bailey's (I don't remember this part), which she refused to do( thank God).

Sorry it took me so long to respond...real life and shite, you know?
Done and done.
That, and the fact that they, as citizens, also fit the definition of "news media".
No. Per the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, there is no reported case in Alabama in which a citizen of another state has sought to invoke the provisions of the statute. Meaning that they can't find an instance where a non-resident has used the power of the courts to enforce compliance with the Open Records Law. I will admit that I did not research this claim further, but I feel confident that a organization such as that would be on top of things.

Pardon, but I'm a little unclear on what you're saying here. Are you saying that Travis is the first non-resident to ever make a request under Alabama's FOIA laws

i'm sure it has been discussed but can one of the bama fans explain why a school would tell a private business to stop doing something that doesnt violate any rules or endanger anyones eligibility?
Or, why a school would disassociate a person that has not broken any rules or endangered anyone's eligibility?

If you're sure it's all ready been discussed(it has, several times) why would you ask again? Read the thread, don't expect people to repeat themselves every time someone shows up with the same question.

If you don't understand objectively how this is the case, after it's been explained over and over, you are just flaming like a fat housewife nagging at her husband or you are incredibly stupid.
If it's the former, I assume you'll keep asking the question knowing the answer, and if it's the latter, you are a half-witted fool, to whom no amount of explanation will suffice. This isn't a matter of legalese or tricky wording, and you needn't return to ask it again. This is common sense. There are many Auburn fans who understand the concept.

Ouch. So....has Mr. Travis responded to anything?
