Actually, I was born in Mississippi, not Tennessee, so we were too mired in poverty to file for bankruptcy.

Cheers to that, a lot of good folk come from Mississippi.

This is going to seem un-Texan of me, but sometimes I admire the poverty of Mississippi. It makes (SOME) people appreciative of what they have and a simpler life. It makes Mississippians more resourceful and more connected to the environment.

Every time I visit family in Mississippi I am reminded of what made this country great. The internet speeds suck WAY too much for me to live in the parts that I would live in, but I do think the big tree farm we call Mississippi is filled with good folk.

I get that illegal aliens drop the grad rate, but it really doesnt change the fact that they are a part of your population. It isn't going to change.

Yeah, the individual high schools can get away with low rates because they use the school-within-a-school model to boost their numbers. But all that rolls up at a state level.

Maybe we can form a state-within-a-state. Too bad the name New Mexico is already taken, that would be the perfect title for everything below San Antonio.

gawddammit it's all clem5on's fault.

Joe Craig's 2nd incident

clem5on WR Joe Craig's 1st incident - where he beat the girl with the towel rod
.
DeAndre McDaniel punched her, throws girlfriend down a flight of stairs, and then tried to smother her with a pillow. Somehow he got PreTrial Intervention and not attempted murder, thanks IPTAY.

Also in 2008, Courtney Vincent beat his girl so bad she had to go to the hospital, and clem5son decided to suspend him for Spring Practice....

Also in 2011, Clemson freshman DE Xavier Littleberry was arrested Monday for assault and battery of a female at her University of South Carolina dorm room. Police noted abrasions and swelling on her face and a rip in her sweater.

Littleberry “maliciously” assaulted his girlfriend by grabbing her and throwing her against a wall.
The warrant quoted Littleberry telling police: “I put the marks on my girl.” The victim said Littleberry, who is listed at 6 feet 6, 238 pounds, “jumped her,” according to the warrant.

In 1986, 4 Clemson Players were arrested for Gang Rape; Kenny Flowers, A.J. Johnson and former players Craig Crawford and Duke Holloman. The victim was the mother of another former Clemson player. Police allowed Flowers's attorney, Dick Harpootlian of Columbia, to talk with the woman in the town police station. Harpootlian persuaded the woman not to pursue the case. At the time, she had no attorney.

On February 22, 1996-Two Clemson football players were released from jail yesterday and two others remained behind bars after a judge set their bonds at $20,000 on charges of raping a student on campus.

Eric Bernard Williams, 18, of Blenheim, S.C., and Adrian Kennell Dingle, 18, of Holly Hill, S.C., posted bond to get out of the Pickens County jail. Christopher Rice, 19, of Starkville, Miss.; and Bennie K. Zeigler, 18, of St. Petersburg, Fla. are still in jail.

Tater player Lamont Pegues, left school during the offseason in the aftermath of an altercation that occurred in the summer of 1995 with a pregnant training-table employee.

quote:

Terry Smith, Clemson's career receiving leader in football, was shot and killed by police who found him attacking his estranged wife with a kitchen knife, authorities in Lithonia, Ga., said.

Smith, 26, who led Clemson in receiving from 1990 to 1993, apparently had kicked in the door of Angela Smith's home when DeKalb County officers arrived and saw the knife-wielding Smith holding the woman closely, with their 2-year-old daughter wedged between them.

Officers told Smith to drop the knife, but he refused, shouting, "Kill me! Kill me!" the police report said.

As Smith prepared to resume stabbing, the patrol supervisor fired once. That shot failed to stop Smith and two other officers fired their weapons, the report said.

Smith was fatally wounded.

Angela Smith, 24, suffered multiple stab wounds to her upper body and a gunshot wound to the right forearm. She was hospitalized in stable condition. The 2-year-old, whose name was withheld, had a gunshot wound to the side and was listed in stable condition.

They took that behavior to the Pro's as well

Miami Dolphins' Phillip Merling arrested for alleged battery on pregnant woman
11:01 AMPrint

Miami Dolphins DE Phillip Merling was arrested on Wednesday and charged with an alleged aggravated battery on a pregnant woman.

Merling, 6-5, 305 pounds, is a third-year player who has appeared in all 32 games for the Dolphins his first two seasons. He was arrested in Broward County, Fla, where the local sheriff's website reported that Merling should have known the alleged victim is pregnant.

2) Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill accused of domestic violence
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Linebacker Leroy Hill was arrested in Issaquah on Saturday night during a domestic-violence call. The news was reported by KING-5 television and confirmed by a press release from the Issaquah Police Department.

According to a release from the Issaquah Police Department, officers were summoned to Hill's home in Issaquah just before midnight. The release stated that officers noticed "obvious injuries" on Hill's girlfriend, who lives with him at the residence. It stated she alleged Hill caused those injuries.

4). Jets KR Miller arrested for assault
By DENNIS WASZAK Jr., AP Sports Writer
Sun May 20, 8:17 PM

NEW YORK - New York Jets kick returner Justin Miller was arrested early Sunday and charged with third-degree assault after a fight at a New York City nightclub.

``I want to apologize to everyone for this situation, including my family, my teammates, the Jets organization, our fans and the entire NFL,'' the cornerback said in a statement released by the team Sunday night.

and even those guys who didn't make it to the Pro's.

3) An ex-football player at Clemson University has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting three joggers during daylight hours on a bike path along Route 50 in Arlington County.

Kenzil Jackson, 26, of the unit block of Old Glebe Road, was charged Wednesday with sexual battery and two counts of attempted rape in what authorities are calling "brazen attacks" on the women. He faces a bond hearing today in Arlington County General District Court. Police said Jackson tackled the joggers even as motorists were driving by.

Thanks Taters.

Truth is, I didn't grow up poor, but had plenty of relatives that one could euphemistically call "salt of the earth types." I do see your point, though most of them would probably have been happier not having to barely scrape by most months. It's easier to praise the virtues from where we stand than from where they stand, right?

They could have left "laws" off of GA, though it fits either way.

It would seem ours (Georgia) is the easiest to address.

You can't expect the group in power now to address that though, they'd send themselves all to jail. Literally every single human being in Atlanta city government would have to be imprisoned.
