36 years...no clue it had been that long. Probably was time though.

Was probably the 2nd best women's coach in the SEC behind Pat Summit at one time

Back when Joe Ciampi coached at AU and Auburn, Tennessee and Georgia were good, there were some hella WBB games.

Landers is and was a great coach. Georgia will miss him.

Georgia has remained at the national forefront throughout Landers' tenure. Most notably, the Lady Bulldogs rank No. 2 nationally in both NCAA Tournament appearances (31) and weeks ranked by the Associated Press (522). Georgia also is one of only three Division I basketball programs to post a winning record every season since women’s athletics came under the auspices of the NCAA with the 1981-82 season

Now that's impressive. Talk about the definition of consistency too

Landers recently completed his 36th season in Athens, during which he recorded his 850th win with the Lady Bulldogs.

He was great for so many years but it was way past time for him to step down, the changes in the athleticism of the women's game in the last 10-12 years were huge & the game passed Andy by...

Thanks for all you did for UGA (sans a NCAA Title) Coach Landers...

He is the 2nd best SEC wbb coach ever, not sure how there could ever be even the slightest debate.

Landers will probably never live down 1995. Returned the top 7 players from a final 4 team the year before. Beat Summit and UT twice (maybe even 3 times, can't remember) that year..then played them again in the finals and lost.

His accomplishments were even more impressive considering Georgia fans have never embraced women's basketball the way Tennessee and some other fan bases have

Maybe you stop being so defensive about everything. Auburn fans never embraced women's basketball either, even when they went to the final four 3 straight times in the late 1980's

All I did was point out that even in a completely civil, non-threatening thread that's about the retirement of our women's basketball coach you still couldn't help yourself with getting in an insult. Sometimes I wonder if you have some psychological issues that force you to make remarks about bama and georgia. It seems unhealthy. Hell you were up at 4:30 this morning talking crap about bama, do you ever take a break?

It really wasn't a shot, moron. It was really a compliment to him that he could be successful without a ton of fan support. If that offends you, tough shite

I'm gonna be honest, I didn't think it was a shot. I thought it was a very honest and accurate assessment. We haven't embraced women's basketball here (and struggle with mens bball), and what he did here during that time was very impressive.

Oh look, this thread hs now turned into a convention of butthurt crybabies and the three people who have showed up would have been at the top of my list of such posters even before this thread

Yeah I agree. I saw auburnphan posted when I first started the thread and rolled my eyes before clicking to see what bs he was gonna spew. I almost complimented him for not saying something bait worthy but figured it wasn't worth a post.

Good job auburnphan
