This was a brutal loss for Tennessee but it should give Vol fans some hope for this season. I think they have a surprise win this season and it's not USCe annual WTF loss

Damn, Tennessee hadn't had a Top 10 win since 2006?

It's amazing to me that we won this game with virtually all of our 2 deep skill players missing and almost no defense to speak of. I'm not sure what that says about Tennessee (they'll be undoubtedly better this season) but, damn, we can't be this bad this year, can we?

Vandy penalties were ejection of ray drew, then overturned ejection of wilson that would have been our ball but the 15 yards still stuck, and damn if i dont stiil say the stomping was the vandy game.

That guy let go of the ball

Tenn will be worse this season. Tenn is in for a long ride.

Tennessee just lost too much along its lines. Butch definitely looks to be building something for the coming seasons but I just don't see them having a lot of success this year.

Tennessee will be better at every position except OT this season imo.
OT could be all time bad though.
People are making a big deal out of losing both lines, but the d-line last season was probably the worst in program history. Getting Maggitt back and adding five 4* freshman, it will be improved over last season.

You don't insert three or four freshmen into a single position and expect an immediate improvement, especially at the position of DL in a conference such as the SEC. In the SEC, games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage. I don't care how talented you are, losing that much experience on the DL from a team that wasn't overly talented to begin with is going to hurt.

I think I'll pull up a chair and hang out here for a while

I think anytime you're having to rely on true freshmen along either line in the SEC, you're in for a rough time. It should mean great things for the future, but they type of kid who can come in and make an immediate impact at that physical of a poison is very few and very far between. Most them just aren't physically ready for the abuse a lineman takes at that level.

Curt Maggitt is probably our most talented player. Our most productive player 2 years ago as well (sat out last year). He will be a big improvement over the shite we were running out there at DE last year. Corey Vereen was our best pass rusher last year as a freshman and he will be starting at the other DE. No doubt DE is better. A lot of talented freshman and RS freshman behind them.
D-tackle we have our 3rd, 4th and 5th d-tackles from last year along with a JUCO AA and two 4* freshman replacing McCullers.
No freshman will start. It will be Maggitt, O'Brien, Williams and Vereen.
Huge improvement over Smith, McCullers, Walls and Miller.
As I said, O-tackle will be embarrassingly bad, but d-line will be improved.

Agree roll tide 87.
If that post were by a Georgia Tech fan talking about potential ACC success, it might be appropriate.
But it's Tenn, who has to play UGA, Florida, Bama, USC, Mizzou, et al.
Four star freshmen dont mean shite against 5 star seniors.
Not on the line.

Are Curt Maggitt, Corey Vereen and Owen Williams freshmen? No.

The nicest thing I can say to you right now is that yall are doing a very good job recruiting for the future, so hopefully you don't run into this same shite year after year going forward. I approve of what Butch is doing so far. But 2014 is going to be an anal blood bath for your team.
