Bama is the one with the history of taking ex-Georgia players with domestic violence charges. That seems like a safe bet.

This doesn't count towards the Fulmer Cup unless he was already enrolled.

Can somebody remind me who took in Jonathan Taylor following his dismissal from Georgia for similar charges?

It's amazing that people bring up Auburn and then they downvote the shite out of the truth when it's posted every.fricking.time.

Interesting. Even judges consider attending UGA a form of 'work-release.'

quote:

Demery was initially given a distinction of "no bond family violence." During the 10 a.m. hour on Sunday, an Athens-Clarke County Jail representative confirmed a local judge ordered a bond totaling $1,850 ($1,350 for the simple battery and $500 for the criminal trespass charges) and for Demery to be released only to UGA program coordinator Bryant Gantt.

Ha. What did I do?

I don't have a prior federal investigation against me? Does that make me dumb?

I feEl bad for the kid. He needs help. But not while playing for UGA. Good luck learning life's lessons.

Your facts are wrong. That makes you dumb.

Helpful hint: The Title 9 lawsuit wasn't a federal investigation into violence against women. It was a procedural case and one brought by private citizens. There was never an allegation of malicious wrongdoing by the university and never an allegation of a cover-up. Those things never happened despite rivals loving to claim they did. It was at its core about whether or not every t was crossed and i dotted when it came to how student cases were adjudicated.

Demery got his scholly pulled already by Kirby. So let's review the facts:

-Guy had scholarship offers from Alabama, arkansas, Auburn, Florida, UK, Michigan, SC, Michigan, and Tennessee
-Signs LOI with UGA
-Gets in legal trouble before even getting to campus
-Kicked off team/scholly pulled before ever getting to campus

Yet people try to claim we're a thug school? LOL

Yup. Auburn wouldn't even allow Jonathan Taylor to take a visit to Auburn because we don't want anybody with a violent criminal history.

And not only do they take violent criminals like the woman beater Jonathan Taylor from other teams, they allow people like DJ Pettway who violently beat and rob fellow students back on campus.

It's messed up they would knowingly put their students in danger just to win football games . They let a victim live in fear on his own campus by letting Pettway back. Then they let a known woman abuser on campus and surprise surprise, he beat another woman in Tuscaloosa

Demery didn't have a violent criminal history when AU and UGA offered him a scholly. He fricked up, and we pulled his scholly before he even enrolled in his first class.

So how exactly is UGA in the wrong here?

Just because there's a little check mark by our logo on a recruiting site doesn't mean the offer was commitable, or that he even had one at all (the recruits are the ones that tell the sites who "offered" them and there's been prospects who have lied about offers before)

I've never heard this kids name before now and I follow our recruiting pretty close. He never took a visit to Auburn and I never even saw him listed as a target for us. Maybe we sent him a letter, but we weren't actively recruiting him. This thug is all Georgia.

You're not, I was clearly taking shots at Bama. Y'all didn't know and did the right thing pulling his scholly. I don't think Auburn was actively recruiting this kid though

He visited AU for the 2015 A-day game big guy

quote:

This thug is all Georgia.

And the instant he fricked up (before even getting to campus his freshman year) we pulled his scholly. What course of action would you recommend we take? Compare this situation to ones where players get kicked out of their schools for transgressions and get welcomed to AU with open arms.

So does anyone actually buy the excuse that a judge accidentally listed Gantt as the person Demery could be released to?

quote:

It is unknown why Gantt was initially listed as
the person for Demery to be released to or why that name was changed on the jail log. The change occurred roughly 15 minutes after The Telegraph called the Athens-Clarke County Jail to inquire why Gantt was the person responsible for Demery following his release. NCAA rules stipulate programs cannot provide free or reduced-cost services to student-athletes and among those would be posting bond. Georgia athletics director Greg McGarity stated that Gantt's name "was included in error and I assure you UGA staff members have not violated any rules related to this incident."

probably not. Still just pointing out that he did have an offer and did visit. NOt that it really matters, just clarifying. This could have happened to any school he committed to, just happened to be us.

Most reasonable people understand that every school goes through this, even with a strong vetting of the recruits background and history. The unreasonable, hypocritical UGA poster is free game though.
