HOLY shite. Mcgarity knew this scenario could play out, so he makes the buyout large enough to help fund an IPF...

assistant coaches dont usually have large buyouts, if they have a buyout at all.

Grantham had one.

Plenty of coordinators have buyouts for anything other than a promotion.

Grantham's buyout. I would expect it would be even higher for Pruitt given the situation.

I can't believe the FSU dickriding got so intense it actually led to a hiring.

You don't think Saban/Bama would gladly pay it if that is the man they wanted for the job? Of course they would.

You don't think if we wanted to keep him that we could engage in a bidding war?

Sure. My original point was this doesn't take Pruitt off the table for Bama if Smart were to leave. I don't even know if he'd be on Saban's radar, don't really care. Just pointing out the fallacy in that assumption.

If Kirby goes and Saban wants Pruitt, offering a $million or so will be no problem.

I thought Pruitt burned his bridges on his way out of Tuscaloosa though? Wasn't he recruiting for FSU while still being employed at Bama?

This is probably true for position coaches, but not coordinators at BCS schools, especially not a Big 6 BCS school. The only way he could avoid the buyout upon voluntarily leaving (I would guess) is that he takes a HC gig somewhere. That was Grantham's clause I believe.

As long as no opposing OCs ask Pruitt what asparagus is, he should be good

You need a blowoff valve for your ego? We can easily keep pace with you if we feel the need. LINK

Never said y'all couldn't. Just said a buyout wouldn't turn Saban away if that was the man he wanted.
