You're comparing APS with Forsyth and North Fulton. That's a night and day difference. Forsyth and North Fulton don't have to cheat to have high scores.

There's more too it than just homework. I've taught some AP classes before and those classes are pretty tough.

Unfortunately, because all of the in-state scholarships I'm in line for, I'll probably be attending UGA Law School. As much as I hate UGA, I can't pass up the Scholarship money that I'm in line for. UGA has a beautiful campus and no student debt so I can't complain

Actually, now they're being investigated for grade changing

If you qualify for Hope, you are more than likely going to qualify for college in Georgia. only reason they wouldnt, is if their test scores were abysmal

I assume you mean "a college in Georgia" and not "The University of Georgia". Because the latter is demonstrably false.

Out of curiosity, what year did you graduate and what is your current job title?

Full disclosure: I like you as a poster but you are perpetuating the myth that an undergrad degree means something special. it's a checkmark. (Vandy is the exception)

AP is different, but lets not act like the majority of grading in schools isn't based upon homework and the vast majority of homework is essentially copying out of a book. Ill never forget the look of one young girls face when told homework would no longer be graded. She says while crying, "How am I going to get an A now"

Where you went to college may not make you special but it does have benefits in the job market.

NYC's point is still accurate- in high school you can ace tests and still be a C/D student is you are lazy. In college the opposite is true.

I figured out early in on high school that if I did my homework I literally didn't have to study for tests- maintian a B test averaage and do your homework = A. I was a "I'd rather have 90 than a 99 since both are an A fella

agreed on the 4+ part but the rant was about high gpa vs high score testing. That is what I was referring to, despite the small snippet I quoted

yes, "for college", not all colleges.

The way the mizz fan asked his question made it seem like he thought that if you were eligible for hope, you can just get into to any state college you want. Like "oh, I have a 3.3, now I automatically get a free ride to Emory". I was just saying that all HOPE stuff is secondary to actually getting into the school.

One would think, if they are willing to change the standardized test answers, then they'd have no problem changing the grades for students.

Right. If you only meet the minimum requirements for HOPE you have almost no chance to get in UGA, Tech or Emory as a freshman, unless you're an athlete obviously.

Only through networking. Living in Ga you will certainly get the skew since there are most likely more UGA grads or fans here.

A miss state grad with the same degree and GPA can beat out a UGA grad merely because of their interviewing skills or networking. (A specialized field is the exception). There are way too many new grads that feel entitled that they are special when in fact they are not. "You got your checkmark. Good job."

Bit more to it than that. Certain comapanies that recruit UGA grads probably aren't sending professional recruiters to Miss State.

In short, if you are accepted in to UGA, unless there are EXTREME circumstances or you're an athlete, you qualify for HOPE. It's definitely not like Texas where if you finish in the top 10% of your graduating class, you are already accepted in to UT Austin.

The lazy ones that dont really have recruiters or actually do recruiting. The only leg-up is more applicants which doesnt nesicarliy equate to a hire
