You know Harvard and Yale and basically the entire Ivy League are Liberal Arts oriented schools, right?

This is embarrassing.

I'm proud Florida is on the list. I wish we had a different messenger to bring the news.

Even his handle doesn't make sense. SMH

After your first job, where you went to school really wont matter... Unless you know people, in which case it wont matter even for your first job.

Football rankings affect us even less than academics, but that's a huge bragging point.

If we're going to talk shite to each other about things we have absolutely nothing to do with (don't get me wrong, it's fun as hell), then it would seem silly to rule out the aspect that actually DOES affect us (whether you think that effect is large or small).

Unless it's football season, then you figure out who went where....

What is "What poorly ranked colleges say". I'll take Potent Potables next for $500 Alex.

Your right, it's not like I'm in a top 10 undergrad accounting program or anything...

Ole Miss does have a very strong accounting program. In fact, Ole Miss and Alabama have two of the very best among SEC schools along with Florida and Georgia.

Pretty much all academic ranking services are biased to a different variable they use in their respective ranking formulas. You have to look at these with a grain of salt, especially when you see the kind of schools that are ranked above Rice University.

The only relevance they have is on an individual level, for whatever it is you are studying.

By all accounts, UNC and Duke are better schools overall than NC State. But why would I go to either when NC State offers a top 20 program in what I am studying?

UF ranked 55th

Don't hang your head.
They are still a good college, even if they aren't ranked very high.

I can't wait to see what happens to our respective rankings now that we added the medical school back under the flagship. Also, the addition of the law school this year (although it is currently poorly ranked) will likely help in the long run. You know we are going to throw cash at that place like rap stars.

I wonder if the big Biotech government project will change things as well.

I am such a nerd. I care more about all this than football.

UF is one of the prestigious public Ivy League schools (along with William & Mary, Virginia, UNC, Michigan, etc).

I doubt very many people outside of Gainesville consider UF to be a prestigious university. Where I live most people don't even know the difference between Florida and Florida State. I tell them where I went to school and they say, "Oh... Seminoles, right?"

Never at any time when I was a student at UF, or after I graduated with a BS in EE, did I feel that Florida was prestigious in any way from an educational standpoint. I attended school with multitudes of dumbasses. If they could get into UF, it can't be that prestigious. Prestigious in sports?... absolutely.

That said, Florida is a fine university. I got a great education there. It's definitely one of the best in the SEC. But to label it a "public ivy"? That's just ridiculous. It's not like we're Cornell.

Also, those rankings posted earlier had UF above such schools as Vanderbilt, Rice, and Brown. It's hard to take those rankings seriously.
