He had a winning record, he didn't win as much as uf would have liked, but it wasn't horrible. His Defenses at UF were Top15 Overall nationally consistently. Going over his career at UF, Auburn, Texas, LSU, his defenses are consistently in the Top15 as well.

2013 is UFs only losing season since 1979.

I like Champ and hated he left....

He needed to be a HC, that anger and hostility that he displayed in the IB last year proved that he will have a hard time in a coordinator position again. Hell, he looked like the HC out there on the field and hazing that ref over and over.

Muschamp is just not a head coach. He's a good coordinator. Great recruiter. But he's just not a CEO.

Liked him but was glad to see him go. Georgia Southern didn't complete a single pass.

As long as he learns how to harness it and not let it derail him. Our defense was much better last year particularly late in the year, but his anger may have cost us a shot at the Bama game last year. We needed every break we could get to stay in that game and his 30 yards of penalties on that drive cost us any shot we may have had.

It absolutely cost him the game vs AU when he was at Florida in '11. He went completely ape shite on a controversial punt return call and he never could collect himself enough to make rational coaching decisions after that pointo in the game. They were a better team than We were that year but he and his temper blew it.

In all of that I never saw many sounding off at what a superior coach he was. I saw they were glad he gave them a chance, believed in them, had a temper, and was always there for them.

Didn't see many guys saying he was a championship coach. I had a boss once, he gave me a chance right out of college, always told me I had what it takes and how proud he was to have us working for him. With that said he sucked as a manager but I loved him for all he did for me.
I wouldn't hire him to run anything though.

Kinda what I see here with the players comments.

I know it was time or him to move on from UF but I'm convinced had he stayed one more year he would have won the East last year.

New hire Mac lost to the same three teams in 2015 (Bama, LSU and FSU) that Muschamp did in 2014 except Mac got two more wins in 2015 against a SC team whose coach had quit and a horrid Mizzou team. What could Muschamp have done in 2015 with Grier?

Muschamp got his 2014 wins without a quality qb and once Mac lost his qb it got ugly fast.....9 points against Vandy, overtime against Florida Atlantic and 2 whole points at home against an average FSU. Muschamp took the 2014 NC Noles to the wire at their place in 2014.

I don't know how Champ will do as HC at SC, but it is not unreasonable to think SC hired a coach who in theory would have won the East last year had UF given him one more year. Champ's defenses there were lights out and the offense had been its most productive in 2014 even though qb talent was lacking. In 2015 Muschamp would have had a second year OC for the first time and with Grier at qb might have won the conference.

He was literally the worst HC by winning percentage in decades if not longer.
