UCLA is 6 outs from the finals, not because of key hits, but because in that ball park when the other team hits the ball hard, it turns into an easy out in the outfield. UCLA is scoring runs only by bad hop singles and bad hop errors by the other team. Their coach is admitting that they aren't even hitting the ball hard, which seems to be the key in scoring runs in TD Ameritrade Park.

Awful, but not even half as bad as John Kruk or Tim McCarver.

Which falls in line with me saying "you can't count on doubles and HR's". TD Ameritrade + the current bats are a terrible combination.

However, TD Ameritrade + Current bats - Current NCAA Baseball + Minor League baseball = MOAR RUNS.

In short, they should change to the minor league ball.

What if in this year's BCS Bowls, teams were forced to not count on passing the ball more that 10 yards down field. It's not allowed. So now safeties will clog the box and all short routes plus running lanes will be crowded.

Was Jack Leggett pushing for the MLB baseball or the minor league one? I can't remember.

Minor League. The specs for the MLB ball aren't even available to the public.

Although careful what you wish for..... Roth said that he could get more movement on the minor league ball than the NCAA ball.

Maybe but it would actually reward the players for squaring one up more than 1 out of 10, which I'm all for. If a pitcher is truly dominant the baseball isn't going to change that. It will change the game for the batters though.

I must not have translated your statement correctly then.

I apologize.

The entire makeup of your lineup and your pitcher's approach to hitters are severely changed in this format.

I'm just not sure you change the ball just because of this CWS.... I'm thinking they try moving in the fences at TDA first. I could be wrong though.

A fast outfield, good fielding 3rd baseman, and a pitch who can throw the hard, high strike will take you a long way in Omaha.....baseball, chess-style.

Actually that sums up his game plan very well. It isn't just "Coach speak.:"

The place is built for a team like UCLA has this season. I think Vandy would have done well had they gotten to it with these conditions.

I guarantee we wouldn't be hearing soo much about this if you guys were in the final. It's sour grapish. Sorry.

Yeah, I know the arguments, and may even agree.

Now that's baseball at its finest.

Not squared up, not in the gap, and definitely not against the wall, over the fence, or even on a line.

We put the ball IN PLAY.

That about sums up the CWS experience in Omaha.

You already know this - but he meant that his pitchers threw strikes, not balls, and that his hitters put the ball in play and forced UNC to make some mistakes under pressure that ended-up costing them some runs.

It's a fairly sound strategy in Omaha. The errors that come with pressures, especially in elimination games out there, have probably cost more teams more games than their opponents.

I know for a fact that SC was the better team in the super regional but we committed the errors and, additionally, failed to throw strikes late when Tyler Webb came into the game ... and therefore we did not go to Omaha.
