Why would the BOTs want to fund a program that loses $17m/year?

I've asked this question in several of these threads and still no answer.

They had a student rally today to try and save the program. Maybe 120 of the 18,000 students showed up.

Because they don't care about the answer, they just like blaming Bama for everything.

Did it lose 17 mil this year? Why don't they want to try to run a leaner budget, or I dunno say "hey we need money or we have to end the program"

They should try to get out from underneath the ua tag altogether. Just be UB...it's more prestigious than ua and AU anyways.

I don't see the point in playing in state teams.

Where are you getting the 17 and 10 mil? The numbers released yesterday was 8.4 spent and 8.4 made. There was about 34k in profit

You used the athletic department budget, not the football one. Football was in the black, but barely

Look I dispise Alabama as much as the next guy, but how is their fault the UAB program crumbled? I'm assuming I missed something.

I don't like playing WC either, but I'd rather play a San Diego State than a Troy.

So UAB lost 17 mil two years ago. What do you think they lost this year?
