Obviously racially motivated.

Hate crime.

Not sure if serious...but if so, first guy that hit the ref was definitely also white, the second guy, can't tell.

Media in San Antonio say that one of the players is listed as a sophomore so he would probably be charged as a minor and the other is a senior so probably charged as an adult.

If I was the DA, I would push real hard to get them both tried as adults. I think that there is a legit chance that a judge would let that fly

A few years in jail would do both of those "boys" some good...

I didn't see any stomping, so probably not State material.

Definitely should be charged and never be allowed to play high school football again.

if this doesn't happen it will really show us how americans have low morals and really fricked up priorities.

if the ref was hurt bad, i'd say press charges and put the entitled brats in jail.

If you watch the video you can see the ref has a long ponytail when his hat comes off. Seems like a defendable hit to me from a fashion defense with that evidence.

Well if they had just dipped it in an inkwell and left it at that like in the olden days it would have been a harmless prank, as opposed to assault and battery.

I read somewhere the two players were Latino and said the ref used racial slurs during the game. Another player was ejected for throwing a punch earlier in the game.

Maybe it was at SB Nation.

Sounds like blame shifting to me.

I heard Sports Radio Retard Newy Scruggs this morning discussing this incident. His "argument" was that this is "proof" that high school football is too venerated in Texas.

He didn't bother to cite any statistics, of course. Nothing about the umpteen thousands of HS games that have been played in Texas WITHOUT anyone's physcially assaulting an official. Just that these 2 boys' having done this means that Texas needs to tear down its HS "football cathedrals" and I guess start playing its games during afternoon recess.

And not that that should matter in the first place.

Also, since the game was played in Marble Falls, the Bexar County (San Antonio), nor Travis County (Austin) DA can deal with this. It will either have to be the city of Marble Falls or Burnet County that will deal with the charges. The official is from the Austin chapter of TASO and if I was him, it would be very easy to drive the 50 miles west to Marble Falls or 60 to Burnet to file charges.

Exactly. Racial slur or not, this was not a heat of the moment reaction. These guys planned to hurt this guy. If they had reacted during a post-play scuffle and pushed or hit him and it came out he had used a racial slur, I could even start to understand that. To wait then assault an official like that is absolutely inexcusable, no matter what he said.

I agree, I was just trying to give context as to why it happened. It is no excuse.

Didn't think you were. However, swhog355 seemed to think they were somehow justified in their brutality.
