Lee wasn't beating Bama.

That's the thing. He was having a fine year then promptly threw 2 pics and was getting that freshman 'deer-in-the-headlights' look. Now would Lee have done enough to win out and do better against UA in the bowl game. We'll never know. Miles had a very hard decision to make. JJ did well against UA in 09 and 10. The OL did him little favors in the NC. It'll just be one of those sore spots that'll never get solved I'm afraid.

Both potential starters are having major issues with accuracy. OC Cam Cameron berated them saying he'll run a 1940's offense all year. The tiger rant wants to pretend this inaccuracy trait will magically disappear.

That's why I've always said we could of started a different QB that wears #9 and plays in the Dome and not won that night.

I think it was just a reaction to a little too much doom&gloom so early...but I suspect we will be running the ball a lot in the first half of the year, which is fine.

We would not have won the first game with him staying in and we would not have been granted the rematch unlike Bama.

This is my line of thinking.

A Dark Ages offense worked for Gus, maybe LSU will resurrect the Notre Dame Box.

They're both young and talented. Miles has a want for experience so I'd give the advantage to the incumbent, but Harris is the real deal. He's smart, gifted with athleticism, and has a serious work ethic. So he may come out of this summer and take over in camp. But I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that because he'd have to really distance himself before Miles will promote him to the number 1 spot as a true freshman. The curse of Jarrett Lee will forever hang over this program. Luckily Cameron wasn't here to be infected by it so there's still hope that the best guy will win.

If Harris is Lee in this scenario, I think Jennings is better than JJ was by a long shot. Or at least has more potential I guess I should say. But say what you will about Jefferson, somehow he had Alabama's number till the BCS bed shitting.

On the offtopic Tebow discussion. Yes Tebow was a great QB, but dont act like he didnt have a great supporting cast, which can help even the most average of QB's succeed. Without Percy Harvin, They dont win the championship against Oklahoma. Period.

But on topic, I'm sure Cam Cameron can develop a QB. The leap Mettenberger made this past season was pretty good. Both QBs are young so expect some growing pains, but I think whoever gets the starting nod will do pretty well this upcoming season.

Alabama and LSU have proven they can win with average QB play when the rest of the SEC West is down*. Both will be fine in 2014.

Hard to call it down in 2011 when the top three teams in the country, on the last weekend of the regular season, were from the West.

You do realize that Percy didn't hold Oklahoma to 14 points, right?

No, he wasn't.

He wasn't good by any means but he did win many games for LSU and statistically he was better than Jarrett Lee.

You can't honestly say that JJ was not bad. He was able to win with defense and a very simple offense that played to his skillset but he was a beyond terrible passer. He averaged 121 yards/game passing throughout his career. That is bad...

But towards Jennings, I really hope he can make some strides in the offseason. Looked great against arkansas when he was thrown into the game, but when he had time to prepare against Iowa he looked scared, inaccurate, and looked to run at the first sight of danger. Didn't step into a single throw. We will see, but if I were on the coaching staff he would be on a very short leash. Too many other skilled QBs on the roster to not be able to have a passing attack. From what I have heard Rettig has struggled in practice, but Brandon Jennings is still struggling to get used to the system. Both the backups look the part though with size/arm strength.

Seems like the fanbase is split on who they want.

The people that want Harris suffer from backup QB syndrome. All reports are that Harris is behind in terms of how to run the offense, read defense, and decision making (I would place a good deal of that on just being a freshman though).

I really want to know the progression through Spring ball.

All of the QBs struggled the first week of practice with accuracy. Idiots on tRant were freaking out over the first 3 practice vids that showed about 3-5 mins total of QB drills. The QBs have looked better and better as the next two weeks have went by, and it's been reported that both had good days in the third scrimmage. Spring game should be a nice looking day for the QBs.

Like Jennings? He's 1st to arrive and last to leave practice. Every time a teammate, offense and defense, wins the big cat drill he's first to congratulate them. He's a true sophomore with two wins already under his belt. One being against a top ten defense. He's only going to get better with Cam's tutelage.
