Refs shouldn't have fricked it up the first time.

I missed the play -- I was watching something else at the time -- but how would there literally have been no time for a snap if everything's set? A snap takes less than a second.

That’s not the issue. Troy hit a play and was tackled with what they determined to be 2 seconds left after a review. The teams went into the locker rooms and then they reviewed it. Brought the teams back out and put 2 seconds back on the clock. What this allowed is for Troy to run the FG team out and get set. As soon as the ref started the clock they snapped and kicked. They were out of timeouts so there would’ve been no chance to run the FG team out and attempt a kick.

Ah, okay. I'd still have to watch to formulate my own opinion, but I do now realize that I subconsciously added the team being set instead of just the ball when I asked my question.

Yeah they hit a long pass play doubt that the troy offense could have even got down an set in time much less the fg team.

Was LSU cheated out of the game? I didn't get to watch it.

Do we really want to talk about calls that should've been the difference in a game if you're a Gator fan?

Sure. Why not?

Should a homecoming game against Troy come down to a controversial call, to a single play? Maybe if you’re Ole Miss, but LSU was supposed to be a west contender. Sun Belt programs shouldn’t be in a position where a bad call against LSU decides the game.

OK. But did they get cheated on the FG at the half like the OP stated?

Yes and no. If the correct call is made in real time, no way Troy gets to kick it. But since it went to review, they get to set up and kick. It’s a quirk in the rules. It sucks for LSU but the correct thing was done based on the way it played out and because of a loophole.

I know this is a thread in jest but the rule is the clock stops when the knee goes down if it's past the first down mark hence the 2 seconds added to the clock. Not that it mattered the game should have never been that close

Well that's just sad a Bama game would get upset over a game that Bama is not even playing in.
