So you are saying one game could only prove the teams were evenly matched, but by playing just one more proved that one team was superior? That seems like you get to choose which games matter retrospectively.

Bama may have won the Natl championship, but you cannot take away that LSU was the best team in the SEC to that year. They had the opportunity to play the best team in the East and beat them. LSU's resume was better than bamas that year, i dont think that can be disputed, they just lost the one game they couldn't. I don't think which team was better was ever settled, just who won the sec and natl championship were.

At the risk of being called butthurt or rustled I'll say I agree. We came out on top on the road in their house and then had to go play an extra game against the best team of the east while Alabama got to stew on the loss and gameplan for us in the process. I had a bad feeling about that game as soon as it was announced that we would play again. It felt like we were setup to be taken down and I can only imagine the players somewhat feeling the same way. It's like saying the win you pulled off wasn't good enough and you need to show us more.

It would be like when the Saints won a close one to the Vikings in the NFC championship game. They played us the closest so they should get another chance at us in the Super Bowl. It just felt like we were jobbed and used as a sacrifice to push the playoff system on the rest of the country.

Well with no BCS it's going to be a crapshoot. I this is actually a very plausible scenario IMO.

I definitely agree. Using a committee instead of the BCS to determine the top 4 teams will bring tons more controversy than the old system. People that got left out complained but the BCS was a pretty fair and balanced equation overall. Human voters mixed with the computers to adjust for strength of schedule and such was about as close as you're gonna get without introducing the bias that you're gonna have with the all human element. Everyone has biases whether they want to admit it or not. I have a feeling there will be a lot more teams and coaches screaming foul every season now.

I think the committee will go out of their way to have 4 conference champs as the final 4, put the reality is that if 2 undefeated SEC teams meet in the SECCG, they should both be in the final because they would be 2 of the top 4 teams in the country, and that is supposed to be the goal of the committee.

Deserve has nothing to do with it.

One reason the BCS formula went away was to prevent a nightmare scenario of 3 SEC teams being in the top 4.

Getting 2 SEC teams will be a stretch, it will happen sometimes, but not often.

3 will never ever ever happen, period. Even if they are by far the best 3 teams in the country.

I agree that 3 will never happen. Although I believe there could be years when 3 deserve to be there. Until they expand to 8 teams and use the BCS formula to determine those teams I won't be satisfied.

A lot of the national media are hinting that the future will just have the winners from the power conferences in a playoff, like the NFL, yet the NFL has 14 teams in the mix and the divisions are a little m!ore equal. The college conferences will never be as equal.
