Who should be the QB?

JJ...plenty of arm talent but no head and no desire to run the ball.

SW...plenty of heart and accurate when between the 20's, but struggles in the red zone because of his size and inability to run the ball or throw it up to a big WR.

JFIII...the D clearly respected his legs which allowed an average Oline to open some running lanes thanks to the blocking angles created, but can he throw a pass?

Based on what you saw last night and last year who would you play?

Easily JF3. Auburn could win a lot of games with a solid defense and dominating run game. Let JF3 open up the run game and then go deep occasionally to keep the D honest. That is basically what Nick Marshall did. Why change a successful offensive formula just because the only QB who fits it is not the best passer. Run the offense the way it was designed to be run and don't panic if he makes a bad throw here and there.

I agree. Why we don't have 3 poor man's version of NM on our roster is beyond my comprehension. Gus flubbed that in recruiting. There are guys all of the country who can run the zone read and can't throw. We should have two for emergency situations and try to have one true DT QB at all times.

Yea it makes no sense at all. Gus had really found a system with Nick Marshall that the SEC had no idea how to stop, and still would be effective if Gus would stick with it. Instead he sold himself on the idea of having more of a passing attack with Jeremy Johnson and he refuses to accept failure in that experiment. Marshall proved that you only have to be an average passer to run that offense if your legs are elite.

I never thought I would see someone more scared to get hit than Keihl Frazier and then we let JJ play.

Not many good options for Gus. None of these QBs fit his offense yet he recruited them all.

Sean White is the best QB, but Gus is too boneheaded to change his offense whatsoever, then pulls that high school gimmicky bullshite that gets us in 3rd and 15. It's hard to look good when your only opportunities to throw are on 3rd and a mile.

I don't completely disagree with you about SW. I believe he is likely the best QB ready to play. It makes no sense to switch him in and out. However, we struggle to run the ball with him in the game. There are tons of reasons for it that are directly linked to his skill set and what he lacks. Not sure why our fanbase refuses to acknowledge he isn't some magic bullet that Gus is completely misusing. We could probably win 6-7 games with him but with our D showing like it did those 6-7 wins will likely come easier if we can run the ball well and kick field goals.

Gus did not ask you for help. I know this because Gus is George Lucas and George Lucas does not ask for help.

George Lucas once had great vision and was supremely innovative. His creations were widely adored and infuential in a variety of ways. However, he was not solely responsible for their success. He relied on the talent and input of others to help craft it into something that succeeded despite the naysayers. Then something terrible happened. His success earned him the right and to have more influence over his creation. The collaborators who helped to shape his vision were replaced with yes men. The people he worked with were not there to help him decide the proper direction, only to facilitate him in the execution of what his unedited vision was. We know the results.

Gus Malzahn is George Lucas and we are watching the Attack of the Clones of his offense.

And the initials JJ played heavily into the downfall of both.
