talk about pretty much anything

The last two...especially. In Daly's book "Golf...My Own Damn Way", he was asked how many books he had read. One had to turn the page for the answer. The following page was blank.

He would no doubt be my most treasured alumni if he had gone to my school

Can we say Bryant since he played football at Bama?

If not :

1) Joe Namath
2) Bart Starr
3) Kenny Stabler
4) Shaun-Alexander
5) Mark Ingram

Honorable mention to GMAC, imo, because of his insane football smarts and accuracy.

1) I'm not the first in the thread to mention him.

2) He won our only Heisman. Auotmatically putting him in.

I think at some point we will be adding Joe Johnson to the list, or at least give him consideration.

Not sure what he means by "most treasured", but Lance Alworth, Sidney Moncrief, "Boot Head" - Ron Brewer, Corliss Williamson, "Big O" - Oliver Miller, Felix Jones, and Matt Jones were extremely popular (as players) with the fans. I'm sure there are others.

Bama has a lot of football players obviously, but putting the other 4 behind Bryant is tough, but I'd put...

Jerry Pate in there somewhere.

Stabler, Starr, and "Broadway Joe" is quite a lineup.

The Superbowl was a UA QB showcase for a number of years...

Oh, and to the UF fan. Spurrier was a player and H Trophy winner...he fits the perimeters set forth in the OP.

Shaun Alexander > Ingram.

Yes Ingram won the Heisman but look at Alexander's records;

All Time leading rusher
Most rushing yards in a game
Most touchdowns in a game

Whose record did Richardson break this year for single season rushing TDs by a back in SEC History? Alexander's.

Alexander would still have most career rushing touchdowns if bowls counted, I hate that rule.

And Shaun did all this while playing for Dubose for 3 years. Also, NFL MVP and single season rushing TD record for NFL until LT broke it. I rest my case.
