No mention of Auburn 2004?

I'll add 08 UF and 04 USC. 08 SC was dominant as well, but they didn't get a shot at the title that year

I love how people slob in 2001 Miami's knob all day long, even though their schedule was absolutely garbage.
I agree with you, they were in the Big East back then. However, they're best is better than anyone else. An absurd amount of athletes and balance on both sides of the ball.

If you went back to 1988, I would say 1988 Alabama.

Biggest game for LSU in 2011 defense failed Bama 21 - 0.
What about all the points put up on Bamas defense this year? Arkansas and Ole Miss put up big points. The 2011 LSU defense is only behind the 2011 Bama defense. The fact that you don't think they're even in the top 5 shows that you're extremely biased.

+1 two of the best of all time. This years defense is special too, but let's be honest, they've played against some laughably bad QBs. Yes, that includes our QB as well.

92 is still the best defense ever to walk on a field outside of Chicago.

You're fricking high.

And Florida screwed shite up by not being able to gain a single yard and a half near the end zone. Then they let Bama go 98 yards the other way like they weren't even trying. Sad, really.

Congratulations
It means absolutely nothing.

That team was insane. Clay Mathews, Brian Kushing, Fili Moala, Rey Maualuga, Nick Perry, Kyle Moore, Taylor Mays, Jurrel Casey, Malik Jackson, and Everson Griffen.
That's just on defense.

2016 Alabama wouldn't cross the 50 in a game against 01 Miami
They had great talent, but Virginia Tech and Boston College that year didn't have an issue crossing the 50 on 'em so I think we could've managed it...
Miami wasn't even the best defense in the country that year, the Texas D was #1 in Total Defense, followed very closely by Va Tech. There was a significant gap after those 2...Miami finished the year as the #6 defense...

They played 4 ranked teams but only one of them outside Nebraska (who got murdered earlier that year in their championship game) had won 10 or more games.
That Nebraska team did not play for their conference championship. They were blown out by Colorado who went on to win the division.

I sort of agree. I think it is the best I've seen in my viewing lifetime.
Texas had a very good defense for a year in the 80's too that was pretty dominant. Jerry Grey was a corner on the team I'm thinking of.
Then I'd probably say the mid 90's Husker teams. Still remember watching them blow up Florida.
Drawing a blank on that 2001 Miami team. I'm sure I watched the bowl game they won that year, but I do not remember anything about it.
Still I'm always surprised at how many Bama guys don't mention that 92 defense, or think one of Saban's defenses was better.
That 92 defense totally froze out everyone they played. Wasn't close. You could tell from game one it would take some kind of miracle for anyone to beat them that year.
Kind of freaky how many players off that defense got drafted, and highly. Not sure how many of the guys drafted in 94 and 95 were starters in 92, or what the deal was with the guys who basically never played in the NFL.
But for anyone who cares to peruse something like this:
