I can't say much for inside the state of Bama, as I'm sure there are more even during the down years. But I've got acquaintances I have known for years who have never said a word about their allegiance coming out of the woodwork with Alabama shite all over. Either they're bandwagoners (More than likely) or they're not very loyal at all.
Loyalty is going like 2-10 or 3-9 whatever USCe did that year and still selling out.

Using experiences or observations of rival fans as "evidence" is bizarre. As pointed out multiple times BDS under went expansion under CMS. Bama had sellouts for every game his last two years. Those are concrete facts. "I aint seen that many Bammer flags before 2007" is not evidence

I will give you that Florida has been down a little lately. That is the reason for dropping out of the top 5 on the list. But when you are one of the only teams that can boast about having sold out every home contest from 1979 until 2011. You have a loyal fan base. Now for the last couple years it is a problem every stadium in every sport is having. People don't have the money and would rather sit at home and watch.
I think it is pathetic personally but it is getting harder and harder to write that check every year.

UF just suffers from the same things Texas and to a lesser extent, UGA, suffer from. Meaning, you have a big fan base, a large contingent of first generation students and fans due to transplants, and thus a pretty big bandwagon.
All three of those schools are a lot different now than in 1979. It's just part of being a big team in a big state that has a lot of outsiders coming in and latching on. Like the others, your fan base has now grown to where the "bandwagon" nature of some of the fan base is overcome by sheer numbers, but I give UF a lot more credit for selling out in the 80s than in the 2000s.

Well we know Auburn doesn't deserve to be on the list after seeing Jordan-Hare in 2012.
We also know UT doesn't deserve to be on the list after seeing Neyland Stadium the past 6 years. They downsized and it still looks like a ghost town

Didn't read the whole thread, but didn't Saban just have to lecture fans on not leaving the game at halftime instead of staying to support the team. I mean the Coach of the team had to make a public service announcement to the whole fan base.

As has been stated several times already in this thread, Bama filled up Bryant-Denny during the Shula years, including his last two years in which the capacity was at 92K+. That is pretty loyal.
Now have we picked up bandwagon fans since Saban got here, sure. But we still have a huge core following that is just as loyal during the bad years as they are during the good years.

Every fan base in the country is having issues with students not going to the games as much and leaving early if they do, there's been numerous articles posted about it over the last few seasons and people trying to figure out why.
Young people in general seem less interested in watching the games live.
Back when Alabama was struggling the stadium was still sold out and filled.
The recent success at Alabama has brought out a ton of fairweather fans. It's very "hip" to go to Alabama games and be into Alabama football, as such a lot of casual, half interested fans go to the games these days.
The ironic thing is when the team is struggling the average fan in the seats is the more hardcore, diehard type.

Yep, I just stated as much. Following Alabama football and being an Alabama fan has become quite trendy over the last 4-5 years, as such we have a lot of fake poser fans these days. These are the people who show up late and leave at half time, they're at the game purely for the social aspect or to take pictures to post on facebook about how they went to the game, etc.

i have said this twice in this thread but everyone wants to be in a pissing match. To me penn state is clearly number 1. Any team that can hold fans during the trials they went through is a testament to loyalty. Penn st attendance never missed a lick through any of it, hell it may have even made them more loyal if that is possible.

Honestly, I have a hard time seeing any Northern school ranked that high (except possibly Penn State). The lack of West coast schools is very telling, but you cannot tell me that Stanford fans aren't loyal.
