Did you read the article or are you just a dumbarse?
Do you know what TODAY is? Or are you just a dumbarse? Do you know that they sent off soil samples that confirmed the poisoning? Or are you just a dumbarse?
Do you know that Monticello posted a three year old article about trees being poisoned in Tuscaloosa, and implied that it was retaliation for the Toomer's trees? Or are you just a dumbarse?
Read the friggin' timestamps on the articles, then have the sense to wonder if there have been developments since that date...

They used ticker tape back in the telegraph days, then the TP started in the 60's. Its not that hard to comprehend. I don't care if anyone else likes our traditions, that's why they are ours and not yours.
My post had nothing to do with the tradition. I actually like the tradition.
My post was based on the idiotic notion that the tradition started in the 50's or 60's so people would know Auburn won an away game.
As I mentioned before, didn't people in Auburn have a radio in the 50's/60's? If people cared who won, they would have probably listened to the game.
Great tradition, but a stupid explanation of how it started.

That's new. I know it says 3:21pm Feb. 16 but I went to the Home page from the article I linked to and the top post was that mess about the Italian Turfgrass Scientists. I see now that the guy has admitted he was wrong and has now removed that post. I was wrong for believing him. Lets move on.

This whole thing is taking a rivalry a wee bit too far. Rivalries should be FUN, they should be a tradition, they should be a rally cry for both schools involved. When live mascots, 130 year old trees, & people start getting hurt, the line has been crossed. Spray paint, signs, statues wearing jersys, planted grass, even a little round up on a field ain't that bad but when you start destroying things that have been around for longer than the rivalry itself, that is just stupid.

Auburn should cut the tree down and get it processed to make toilet paper and then sell it for $5 per roll.
