Tony Vitello and Bianco

Say what ya want, but he is one of the best young coaches in the game right now and an elite recruiter. In just his 6th year as HC, he is currently 3rd all time for the most wins in Tennessee Baseball history.
When UT took a chance on him, he was the youngest HC at the time at 37 years old. When he is down at UT, he will reset the wins mark among many other records, along going down as the best coach ever at UT.
1. Rod Delmonico - 699-396 (.638%)1990-2007 (18 years)
2. Bill Wright - 408-308-2 (.570%) 1963-1981 (19 years)
3. Tony V- 266-106 (.715%) 2018-Current (6 years)
If he averages same amount of wins for the next 13 years, he will have over 800 wins. I know it’s a long time from now, but if he stays as long as the ones in front of him, he will pass them easily.
Bianco just got his 1,000 win last week and he’s been a HC for 24 years. If Vitello keeps the same pace, he will have over 1,100 wins by time he has as much time as Bianco. If he stays entire time at Tennessee, he will go down as one of the greats in the SEC and NCAA.

Will Tennessee fans still think as much of Vitello when he leaves for greener pastures?

Vitello is clearly a good coach and recruiter. I don’t think anyone would disagree with that and the results thus far speak for themself.
That said, and I certainly mean no disrespect to Tennessee here, but if he keeps having I success I doubt he’s at UT in 5 years.

State, LSU, Florida, Arkansas, A&M, USCe, Ole Miss, Vandy, OK, Texas and even Auburn and Alabama and Georgia have been good at baseball for decades at various times.
Tennessee? Not so much, here and there and also the last few years.
Check back with us in 2030 and maybe your statement will hold water then.
Until then keep smiling!!!

Vitello isn’t leaving what he’s built for a worse team and situation in Austin. Tennessee is building him a new stadium

Let's check back on this in 13 years.

Yea I guess in theory he could leave for “greener pastures”, but currently Tony Vitello is being given whatever he asks for from Tennessee. He basically had full reign on designing the additions to our baseball stadium.
Plus, let’s be real, Tennessee baseball is becoming a perfectly fine baseball head coaching job for one to potentially have overall. Things change. We just aren’t a pushover, poorly attended/supported cellar dwelling SEC baseball program anymore. Add in our recent successes and the NIL landscape now, I am very optimistic of the trend of elite in state targets continuing to now choose Tennessee baseball over Vanderbilt-something that just wasn’t happening at all 5 years ago even. Nevermind the fact that the HS baseball talent found throughout Tennessee alone each class gives the program an excellent foundational base from which to start constructing their roster each year around.
He (and to a diminished degree Rod Delmonico) has proven the Tennessee baseball job isn’t exactly “the worst” when it comes to giving a competent coach a chance to build a nationally relevant perennially contending baseball program.

Here's what your post should say, alter: "As of 2024, Tone couldn't shine the nutsack of Bianco, let alone his cleats."
That's all you should've said, and as far as baseball coaches go, that's all you're allowed to say.

Tone will have buildings named after him in Knoxville by the time he’s done

I just don’t see any coach making over $1M staying anywhere for 25 years

Where is he going? Tennessee is in the middle of spending $98 million on the baseball stadium. Tennessee is letting Vitello help design the stadium the way he wants it. He’s not going anywhere, and the Vols will pay him whatever it takes. He doesn’t need to go to anywhere else to win, or to get recruits. He’s doing all that right now. He’s 1 win away from being in Omaha 3 consecutive years. No other team in the SEC had been to Omaha more times than the Vols the last 3 years.

He’s not leaving UT. UT has as much money as anyone, and he is currently helping with the designing of LNS expansions and renovations. He doesn’t need your “blue bloods” to win or go to Omaha. He will turn Tennessee into a blue blood by the time he is done. LSU wasn’t shite till Skip, Ole Miss wasn’t shite till Bianco, and Vandy wasn’t shite till Corbin. They all built those programs to what we know them as today. And Vitello is the next one to build a powerhouse college baseball program.

Calm down
You have a really good coach. I agree, he appears to be building a great program.

I guess he will be our Tennessee's of Nick Saban at LSU.

If Tony V can be as consistent as Bianco and get a few rings he will be considered up there with Bertman and Polk.
It is not easy to win, year in and year out in this league. Tony V has done a great job so far.
