Isn't a step up after "going to a few NITs and NCAAs" like some of your fans thinks is a given if you do it at Auburn.
If Barbee had stayed one more year at UTEP, he would have landed a much better job than Auburn and wouldn't be looking to restart his HC career now.

Are you a tard? Worth the risk of getting paid millions to just bring a program to NIT appearances and maybe a few dances? You really think that's a huge risk?
When you can get a better job than fricking Auburn? You risk flaming out and not getting a shot at a good job again.

Another failed Jay Jacobs guy.
He better hope the football program doesn't nosedive again.

I was a Jacobs critic, but he's made a string of good hires across the board since 2012. I'm willing to wait and see what he comes up with for this one.
And to be completely fair, Barbee didn't look like that bad of a hire when it was originally made.

It's year 2 of our coach, and in year 1 he bagged a top 10 class. We have the #3 overall recruit for 2015 with more to come. We are just fine with our coach.

I just heard he fired Barbee in ATL so he could stay behind and interview "a certain Florida assistant"...

He wasn't a bad hire, which is why Auburn is going to struggle to hire anything that looks solid at the time.
Auburn is a bad basketball job.
The conference can only hope they hire a guy like Rick Ray who can at least put an entertaining team on the court.
This conference needs to display the athleticism available to the schools from local talent, Big10/Sutton coaching tree hires do not help this conference, if the games are at least fun to watch all the sudden it will be "they are a good conference with good teams"...

Yep. If we could play fast, increase scoring...it does change the perception of the league.

@GoodmanESPN: Namea I have been told are at or near top of Auburn list: Bruce Pearl, La Tech's Mike White, Duke asst Jeff Capel, S Miss Donnie Tyndall.

Terrible list is terrible.
Capel, Tyndall, and Boals at Ohio State.
All terrible hires for Auburn and this league...

Back the damn armored truck up to his doorstep. I would be giddy if Auburn got Pearl.

Not going to happen, it is better for is HC career to stay with ESPN another year than coach at Auburn.
Same with White, better to stay at LaTech.
Looks like Auburn will be going the assistant route.

THIS
Barbee had a very solid plan when he was hired. He wasn't allowed to follow through with this plan, and that along with some abnormal attrition has been his downfall.
Barbee will go coach for Calipari for a little bit, then get a head coaching job and climb up the ranks. Auburn is a deathtrap for basketball coaches right now.
Hopefully we can get the guy from La Tech, cause I doubt anyone halfway decent besides Stansbury is very interested.
