It's funny how people always devalue recruiting when they evaluate a college coach. The only reason why Tuberville was able to have the success he had at Auburn was due to Alabama being crippled by NCAA sanctions and coaching turnover. Once Bama was finally able to get their act together, his poor recruiting got completely exposed. In 2008, the state of Alabama was absolutely stacked with high quality talent such as Julio Jones, Mark Barron, Courtney Upshaw and Marcell Dareus among others and Tubs missed out on pretty much all of them.

He quit recruiting. He wasn't recruiting any better than Alabama before Saban either, but he flat out quit after Jetgate.

Give me Gus. I still think he's a good coach.

Tuberville.... ALL DAY. Regardless of what folks say about him, he took a lot of other SEC schools' recruiting leftovers and still went toe to toe with everybody. Hell, that was the golden era of Auburn football imo

Why is a UF fan talking shite about Auburn? We own you. I know you're just upset because UF hired that joke McElwain. But chin up little buddy. After Zook, you guys found Urban Cryer. Maybe history will repeat itself after suffering through Muschamp and this clown.

P.S.
Malzahn is a good coach. He just needs to get rid of Rhett Lashley and find a real QB coach. When Gus has a good QB, he's always going to put up points. And the defense is looking better and better. And unlike Tubs, he's going to have one of the top recruiting class every year.

two of those guys came up through the ranks by paying their dues - didn't have people pulling strings for them to get jobs they had not earned

Tubberville was overall the better football coach than both of them very clearly.

I think you are very wrong. Tubbs makes terrible decisions at times. Gus is still learning how to be a HC at a big time school, but he learns from his mistakes, and is about to butt rape the #17 team tomorrow.

Gene obviously isn't a good HC, but I still like the guy.

The answer is Gus>>>Tubbs>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Gene

Tubs without a doubt, but I am glad he resigned to spend a year with his family because he was not focused enough his last year. (Note: I know his 80 year old mother said he was fired, but he said he resigned, he son played at Auburn and he has been seen in Auburn gear)

Gus is a much better coach than Chiz, but is still learning on the job. Chiz was the coach over the worse Auburn team in the history of Auburn Teams, he lost the team.
