The BCS national title game gives the crystal football to that game's winner, but there are a half-dozen or so other crowns. Associated Press voters may decide to award its trophy to another team, just as Walter Camp and the Football Writers Association of America and others could do as well.
Want to really get your hypothetical/conspiracy/what-if?/anything can happen/wild hair juices flowing? Toss this one around as a possibility: Based on a split national championship and the teams that could be involved, what if LSU and Alabama both won national titles this year?

I'm sorry...but if there is no rematch in the big game in New Orleans, and LSU wins it, why the hell should anyone reward any sort of national title to Alabama?
LSU beat us fair and square on the field. Just because it was a 9-6 loss in overtime doesn't make it a win or half of a win.

Why would anyone award a national title to Alabama when they finished 3rd in the SEC? No one knows, but it happened, and that is one of the "13" national championships you guys claim.
