Yea, that'd be almost an ACC like yearly schddule for LSU.
So let me get this straight, they're talking about:
LSU
Mississippi
State
Vandy
Mizzou
Arky
A&M
Seems like every time realignment comes up it looks like this.
Why y'all want to kick LSU out of the SEC tho?

no more whining about schedules.
wtf?
You underestimate LSU fans.

There is no need for us to say that. A UA representative already said that is why bama voted against AU in the East.
I will just go ahead and trust you on (which is dumb), but regardless that was 25 years ago. Doesn't apply in the least now.
I'd love to send us both to the East. Auburn would get to pick up it's old rivalry games with Florida and Tennessee and keep UGA and Bama and Alabama would play Auburn and Tennessee and get to rekindle Georgia. Plus, we could scrap the permanent opponents that everyone apparently hates so much.
And, I realize that would make the East really tough and the West easier, but I really don't care.

Yea, you guys would run that division but man the quality of game would suck.
I know, I feel bad about it, I would really miss the LSU game. Can we just kick out all the schools that are boring and make sure we can all play the teams we want?
Seriously though, LSU has a rivalry with Ole Miss and more of a rivalry with A&M and Arkansas than anyone else in the league. Missouri and Vandy are really random (I'm not sure I'd move Vandy, but I guess you have to move someone).
But yea, it would suck from a the standpoint of going to fun games for a LSU fan. But you'd definitely win the easier schedule.

Wait, Auburn's not allowed to recruit in Florida? Weird.

REC has really been lenient the last few years. Me thinks we need to make a change at the top.

You guys clearly have more of a relationship with A&M than anyone else.
The Arkansas thing was kind of created by the league and obviously hasn't taken too deeply.
Again, we just need to kick the losers out and we can all play eachother like it should be.

Our Recruits come from Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. We are a better geographic fit for the East and would add some competitive balance to a division that struggles to be respectable
Maybe one day the REC will allow the SEC office to do the right thing and move Auburn to the East where they belong
Just admit youre scared of playing Bama and LSU every year.

I disagree.
Mississippi is up there, and, in spite of what Alabama fans tend to believe, so is Alabama.
A&M and LSU definitely have very much in common. We have a long, if interrupted, series history, and similar origins as military schools.
I've gone on record as saying that I wholeheartedly approve of not only A&M's inclusion in the SEC, but Arkansas' as well. As a matter of fact, when you compare the all-time success of A&M and Arkansas to USCe and Mizzou, there really is no comparison. A&M and Arky were FAR better acquisitions than USC and MO.
BUT
There is NO DOUBT as to how LSU fans view Alabama, even if this view is not reciprocated by Alabama fans. And I'm not just talking about the whole Saban to bama thing. In the 60s the Big Game for LSU was against Johnny Vaught, in the 70s that changed to Bear Bryant. That 30 year home losing streak to Alabama stuck in the craw of many Tiger fans for a long time.
Prior to admission to the SEC, were Texas and A&M rivals?
I suspect if you ask anyone besides a UT fan, yes, UT and A&M were rivals - lopsided series record and Oklahoma notwithstanding.

I'm sorry you misunderstood my post. I meant that of all the SEC schools A&Ms strongest tie is with LSU. LSU clearly has stronger SEC rival ties

And I view LSU as a historic game and now a huge game, but not quite as a rival. I know that's a big flame fest topic around here, but I just don't get the same vibe I do with Auburn and Tennessee.
Also I just really like LSU do it makes it hard for me to muster rival type hate.

I actually agree with this. Auburn should be in the East and Missouri should be in the West.

We tried. Gumps cried to the commish.

the folks in Hoover would never allow that. I think the SEC should get rid of the divisions, get rid of OOC games, play a 13 game round robin, take the top two seeds to Atlanta, and then crown the winner the de facto national champ.

Secession may work better this time than last, I guess

Well then, I take back everything I said.
But really it's LSU and Arkansas for A&M - especially Arky. I really like this new 'triumvirate' of LSU-Arky-A&M, and have referred to it before as the SEC West Freak Fest - with Aky providing the pork, LSU the drink, and A&M bringing the freak.

I know ['rival's] a big flame fest topic around here
The problem stems from the two meanings of the word "rival":
noun
1. a person, organization, team, etc, that competes with another for the same object or in the same field.
2. a person or thing that is considered the equal of another or others.
And boy, do people's panties get bunched up when discussing the topic.

It's just weird, I don't understand why anyone cares.
I love the LSU game. Probably my favorite game of the year due the nature of it, the similarity of styles in the two programs and the mass talent. And even before all that I loved it because LSU is fun and different and it's always wild.
Can't really put a black and white label on that.

I am glad we are in the West. That being said, we have more natural rivalries with East teams. UGA, UT, and UF were always more natural rivalries than LSU, Ole Miss, and MSU.

The 6-1-1 format is just garbage; it needs to go. Some of the best times in my undergrad were the trips to Knoxville, Athens, and Lexington (frick that dump Gainesville).
I know the ADs are more worried about money than fan and player experience, but LSU has played more non conference games in Texas in the pat few years than they'll play in the next 25 years in the state of Georgia. Just terrible.
