The South is no longer defined by the Civil War, and MO KY VA and NC are indeed sometimes considered Yankee.

I'm not ashamed of being Southern, nor am I proud of it. It's just who I am, and marrying a Brazilian and living in the Midwest for the last 12 years doesn't change it. God knows, sometimes when I go back to Mississippi I want to slap everyone in sight for religion and/or politics...but these are my folks, and it beats the hell out of being a Buckeye.

French fries and mayo are super good! Before you knock you should at least try it.
I'm not a food snob. I'll try anything at least once. It all goes in one hole and comes out another hole.
Some people in the south eat their grits with butter and salt while others prefer their grits with a sprinkle of sugar and cinnamon.
To each his own, but don't act as if all the sudden a food preference now defines us as yankees. If I want to deepfry dogshit on a stick, I'll proudly do it while proclaiming my southern heritage.
Now frick off, people.

To be honest I'm southern, but the cofederates didn't fight for my cause. I'm not giving any "we loved slavery too" props. Oh, and to be fair I matriculated at tFlagship and Fayetteville is not southern either.
