That stat speaks more to rushing philosophy, where one running back gets a high % of touches and can thus lead the SEC in rushing. I think total rushing yards by running backs would be more indicative of "RBU".

So that doesn't speak about the rushing philosophy? Sorry, I don't get your logic, at all. This "RB by committee" philosophy has only come about in the last 10 years or so.

Why do Auburn fans brag about leading the SEC in rushing when y'all run the ball 90% of the time?

That's like Texas Tech bragging about passing.

It's retarded

Also if we're speaking to recent NFL success, the answer to that probably lies somewhere between LSU (Hill, Blue, Ridley) and Alabama (Lacey, Ingram) although Auburn (Tate, Mason) and Arkansas (McFadden, Jones) have had notable success in the pros as well.

For Arkansas, Hillis recently had a good run with the Browns. Now with the Giants I think. Knile Davis has had some good seasons with the Chiefs lately as well. Dennis Johnson had a decent season for the Texans in 2013.

He doesn't know squat about college football...but he makes some great coffee. Congrats to him for the merger with Burger King.

Under Gus Malzahn, the wealth is spread out among many players.

Mason and CAP disagree. They handled the lions share of carries as far as RBs go.

CAP had 84 more carries than anyone else in the SEC. (next Auburn running back was 43rd in carries)

Thats 28% MORE carries than anyone in the SEC.

Tre Mason had 102 more than anyone else in the SEC (next AUB running back was 30th)

Thats 33% more carries than anyone in the SEC.

ETA: Agree that Auburn is running back U right now. 1 guy will get the bulk of the carries and they run it a lot

Not really.

Auburn has ran the ball 70% of the time over the past 2 seasons. LSU is right up there with us at 65%. Sorry your running backs just aren't as good.

So last off-season it was 80% of the time.

Now you upped it to 90% of the time.

I guess next year, you'll claim Auburn never attempts a single pass all season.

Wisconsin runs the ball a lot too. Didn't they have like 600 rush yards in their bowl game?

Auburn had fewer rushing attempts per game than lsu last year, but more yards per carry and yards per game.

UGA was 6th in rushing attempts per game in the SEC, yet 1st overall. 2 of the top 3 yards per game in the SEC....

I would rather run less times, for more yards, sharing a productive workload....

You should write a book on your secret philosophy. It will probably change the way the game is played.

I was talking to Auburn fans. The simplest things need explaining in that situation.

The point being discussed was the insinuation that AU only had good rushing totals because they run the ball so much. The reality is, AU is usually at or very near the top in ypc as well.

The comment also came from a fan of a team that ran the ball more, passed the ball less and was less efficient running and passing the ball than AU lsat year.
