Hugh Freeze and Nick Saban both went 6-6 in their first season at their current school and won their first bowl game to finish 7-6.

Top 3 alltime bowl winning %s

1. Penn State
2. USC
3. Ole Miss

Actually (using a minimum of at least 20 bowl appearances) Penn State is farther down. But you are correct in the fact that Ole Miss is still third.

With a minimum of 20 bowl appearances, the top bowl winning percentages are as follows:

1. Oklahoma State (15-8-0)
2. USC (31-17-0)
3. Ole Miss (22-12-0)
4. Auburn (22-13-2)

5. Oklahoma (27-17-1)
6. FSU (24-14-2)
7. Alabama (35-22-3)
8. UGA (27-18-3)

9. Boston College (13-9-0)
10. Syracuse (13-9-1)
11. Penn State (21-15-2)
12. Georgia Tech (23-18-0)
13. NC State (14-11-1)
13. Iowa (14-11-1)
15. Texas (27-22-2)
16. Miami (FL) (18-16-0)
17. LSU (22-20-1)
18. Tennessee (25-24-0)
19. Florida (20-20-0)

20. Washington (15-15-1)
21. Maryland (11-11-2)
22. California (10-10-1)
23. Southern Miss (10-10-0)
24. Fresno State (10-10-0)
25. Nebraska (24-25-0)

With a minimum of 30 bowl appearances, the top bowl winning percentages are as follows:

1. USC (31-17-0)
2. Ole Miss (22-12-0)
3. Auburn (22-13-2)

4. Oklahoma (27-17-1)
5. FSU (24-14-2)
6. Alabama (35-22-3)
7. UGA (27-18-3)

8. Penn State (21-15-2)
9. Georgia Tech (23-18-0)
10. Texas (27-22-2)
11. Miami (FL) (18-16-0)
12. LSU (22-20-1)
13. Tennessee (25-24-0)
14. Florida (20-20-0)

And including just the Big Daddies that have a minimum of 40 bowl appearances, the top bowl winning percentages are as follows:

2. Oklahoma (27-17-1)
3. FSU (24-14-2)
4. Alabama (35-22-3)

To be part of the 'Big 6' that's not exactly tearing it up.

But it is a bit misleading and accurate.

Pretty sure LSU and Tennessee were going to more major bowls than Auburn. And those major bowls are obviously going to be against tougher opponents.

You frickers still need to win'em though.

A&M hired Franchione away from Alabama.
A&M rejoiced.
Alabama was pissed.

We were mad as hell. Luckily its always worked out great when we've stolen your coaches. If Sumlin keeps it up, we might have to try to bring him home in a few years.

The only reason Frannie bailed for A&M was because he saw the NCAA freight train headed straight for Bama.

No NCAA, Fran would have stayed.

No Fran leaving, no Shula.

No Shula, no Saban.

Ergo, due to the transitive property, no NCAA, no Saban.

Y'all should be thanking the NCAA.

I'm fine with how everything worked out. We knew why Fran left, but we were still pissed. Though it wasn't what he'd signed up for when he took the job. I'm surprised um has kept Golden

Fran's buyout was reduced in the event 3 jobs came calling--TAMU, TEX, ND.

He knew the train was coming--even though it wasn't crippling stuff--before he took the job. Everyone did.

Bama was a high profile filler between TCU and one of the two big Texas schools. That was always Fran's plan.

With a CWS appearance on the line, LSU has only lost one regional or super-regional championship game in Baton Rouge - last year vs. Stony Brook.

Turn your eyes away Michigan fans...

Bo Schembechler who is one of the greatest college coaches of all times never won a National national title and went 5-12 in bowl games.

also....

Chris Leak is 4th in all time in SEC TD passes with 88 just 1 behind Peyton Manning. Leak is 1st in all time SEC completions. Leak is also 2nd all time in yards from scrimmage in the SEC behind Tebow. Guess I just never paid attention to how good he really was. Kid took a lotta heat in his career at Fla

Leak = Beast!!
