Isn't Sumlin making something like $5 mil? Where would that put him in regards to the higher paid coaches in the NFL? I know Payton is making $8M with the Saints, which used to be the highest if it still is. What kind of buyout does he have? Surely he'd have to leave & not get fired, making his buyout a wash.

I wonder why Less has never been rumored to the NFL?

Cause he would never succeed in the NFL

The 2008 LSU team is a perfect example of this .. When Les has to coach them up he falls short... He has to have more elite talent then his competition to compete.

so you pick one of two times in 10 years of brutal sec west coaching to show that miles is incompetent. also ignoring what he did at osu. makes sense. nevermind the fact that after those two occasions, he quickly righted the ship. he's never won less than 8 games, nevermind

plus, you're acting like he would have to coach the nfl team all by himself because assistants aren't allowed in the nfl.

there it is. the old "he wins because he's got more talent." if a coach can just close his eyes and pick out some talent to put on the field and have them draw up plays in the dirt and win in the sec, then the sec is not the toughest conference. we know the latter is not true so, the former is not true either.

one decent win to stop the bleeding and now the rebs/hawgs are back talking trash to lsu fans.

I could see Kelly leave for the NFL, maybe Lions. Sumlin would be dumb to leave this year given his contract. He would owe Texas A&m 5 million if he left. He can leave for zero if he stays for 1 more season.

My question is why would an NFL franchise want to hire Sumlin? What about his coaching style screams NFL?
