The extra round is at home stadiums

First round (campus)
Quarterfinal (bowl)
Semifinal (bowl)
Final (bowl)

If you get a bye you have 3 travel trips. If you don't get a bye you have an extra home game to pay for (or a road trip game) and then 3 travel trips.

As someone who has done the semis/final duo 2-3 times, adding another trip where you have to fly means almost nobody will be doing all 3. It will be a different dynamic for fan travel. Just not doable in a single year for anybody but those who are willing to spend $3-4K (at the low end) for one postseason (and that's 1 year only).

This was the answer I expected.

There is nothing better than watching a meaningful game in the Rose Bowl. I am all for this.

One thing is for sure - it should never be in stadiums like Santa Clara or Tampa. Keep it in the Rose Bowl, Superdome, Benz - traditional college football stadiums.

The two conferences with teams that will actually be in the game every year have 95% of their members in the Eastern half of the country, but lets play at this west coast dump every year

Good stadiums that know how to do college football and are easy travel sports seem like the best options.

Atlanta, New Orleans, Miami, Indianapolis, Dallas, Houston, Vegas, Nashville when their new stadium is ready.

No. They shouldn't be rewarded for being the huge thorn in the side they've been.

Joel Klatt and Josh Pate have both said they think that the Rose Bowl should be where the Natty is played every year.

Screw that.

I get some people have fond memories of it, but the other 75% of the country dont give a rats arse about it.

If they tore it down today, it wouldnt bother me one bit.

I like the sentiment, as it is the Granddaddy of them All, but there is no way the rest of the Bowl host sites let that happen. There is way too much money involved.

No. One thing that makes Omaha so great for the CWS is the local community really gets involved & makes it a happening through out the town & around the stadium. Can anyone see the locals around the Rose Bowl getting that involved, or even giving a shite?

Meh, I’d rather college football games be played outside on grass.

Agree but in late January those options are pretty limited.

If you've ever been there, you wouldn't want this. The place is a complete dump.

It seems dumb to me to have it on one side of the country every year. Omaha is atleast near the middle of the country

not to mention the financial benefits. Omaha benefits the local area, but not in the same way a national championship for football does. No reason they should get that every year.

Rose Bowl. Been once will not return. Go outside of stadium through a narrow tunnel to get concessions or go to the bathroom. Foot traffic going both directions.

First time I've really disagreed with Josh Pate...

Rotate the game.

The #2 reason I'd go for having it here is because I LIVE HERE!

Explains a lot. People living In CA are fricked up as a moon frog.

I assume most of your downvotes are from LSU fans that want New Orleans and the Super Dome to stay relevant with college football. The Rose Bowl is the perfect place. There's so much history, the weather is perfect, and the mountains make it look scenic.

Which is why I like Pasadena for the game. It’s also neutral cfb territory.

Also, I fricking HATE that they play the championship games on Mondays.

They can see no reasons ‘cause there are no reasons, what reasons do you need?

Tell me why…
