Like a random draw like in Champions League?
We could group teams in tiers as well so Bama doesn't get all the weak teams nor LSU all the hard teams.

So ... how do you know who is going to have a good season or a bad season before the season begins?

Pretty bad idea. Just one example of many, this year UF would have been in top tier and Mizzou in the bottom and looked how that flipped. Also look at Auburn and LSU and look how that flipped.
