So why is it that UF, Michigan, USC, Texas, etc hire crappy coaches the majority of times they have a vacancy?

Who knows? go ask them

What do they have to do with LSU?

Well they're elite jobs. The point is there aren't mant great coaches making changes in a given year. It doesn't matter what your school has going for it, the majority of times you don't make a homerun.

LSU has made plenty of shitty hires in the past too baw. If you deny it's possible you are being irrational.

There is no way you can really zero in on a singular reason for those programs anyway.

Yeah, we're all scared.

The AD that hired Miles and Saban is long gone. The current AD is a moron and LSU fans will admit that depending on what day it is. It's not like LSU is this person who lives forever. It is run by people who are replaced over time.

That's a good point, but Alleva has never had to hire a football coach at LSU. How can one deduce he will be inept?

gnore the fact that LSU hired Nick Saban, arguably the greatest coach in the history of college football.

Who used you as a stepping stone and left ASAP

Miles is your ceiling and the ineptitude to come is going to be the most glorious thing to watch your guys coming to reality

Primarily because they did not want to pony up for the best available names. Totally different times now.

We have other examples of incompetence:

-How he handled Chavis

-How he didn't fire Les last offseason

-How he didn't demand Les replace the OC at least last offseason

I mean LSU just fired a decade plus coach four games into a season. That is as rare as cellulite on a supermodel's arse for a reason, it shows poor leadership.

There was so much political bullshite going on with that fiasco it would be shortsighted to put all the blame on the AD. If he had his way Miles would've indeed been gone. It was an unprecedented situation with even the fricking Governor chiming in.

Where did I deny it was possible? I'm simply refuting the silly narrative that this board has jumped on.

How much a coach is paid doesn't collerelate to how good at coaching he is. Would you say Sumlin and Charlie Strong are better coaches than Peterson because they are paid more? No fricking way.

No matter how much money you spend it's always a crapshoot. The sooner you accept that the sooner you can have healthy expectations.

Well you were asking what previous shitty hires have to do with LSU. Your answer is it can happen to you too.

Happy to help.

LSU just hired Nick Saban and the most successful coach in its school's history back to back.

They'll be okay.

I don't for one second believe that many SEC fans believe this. Don't mistake message board smack talk for what fans really believe.

I believe LSU will hire a coach that is universally regarded as good...not yet great. Whether or not he achieves greatness will be based in part over whether or not he gets absolute control.

They have a lot to do with LSU

They are all better programs than LSU that are having those issues.

If you didnt luck out on Saban and then his recruits winning in 2007 for Les to ride n for the next number of years no one is even talking about LSU today.

You could easily make a hire that sets you back more than 5 years

3 for mine but this is also including how many years ago half the Fans wanted him gone? So subtract at least five.

Honestly, guys, and even though you shouldn't really care what a bunch of assholes on a message board say, would it make y'all feel better if most of us admitted that we think LSU is perfectly capable of making a great hire? Louisiana is a talent-rich state, the SEC is a championship winning league, and the fans are as passionate as any fanbase. LSU is a very attractive landing spot. The main reason y'all can't escape getting trolled is the fact a good number of you are not differentiating (at least publicly) between "capable of" and "definitely will". The same sense of entitlement is what drives y'all to troll Bama on such a regular basis, so it's hardly surprising when the guns get turned back on you.

Note: before you rage-deny, I said "a good number," not "all," and "publicly," not "even in your bedroom whilst engaged in unspeakable swamp-people sex."
