I can think of at least 3 possible ways:

1) Joe Schad is largely considered to be inaccurate in his reporting so him saying something didn't happen usually means the Rant believes it did.

2) If the guy really is still denying it after Tunsil admitted it (please spare us the BS attempts to explain his comments away as misunderstanding the question), then they are continuing to cover it up.

3) A lot of Ole Miss fans are clinging to the "student assistance plan" as a possibility. If that were so, wouldn't Barney have just admitted to paying but said something like "yes, we helped him using the student assistance plan" and not something like "i never gave him any money"

I am starting to think that as well.

I still think the NCAA has basically surrendered. But with all eyes on draft day as this stuff came out, it will be hard not to go after Ole Miss.

It looks bad.

If the stepfather is really angry, it could look much worse.

No institutional control. None.

It's done. It's over.

interesting scoop there Joe, I would have expected the ole miss staffer to admit his sins to you.

Well if you believe the Ole Miss propaganda machine on this forum, it was all on the up-and-up. Why deny it if nothing happened?

You'd think after 40,000+ posts, you'd know a joke when it's in front of you.

It's going to be interesting to see the out come of all this.

If they get away with this then, some teams may regret not going after Hugh Freeze a year ago. If he can get away with this at Ole Miss then he could damn near have a NFL team at a school like UF , LSU , USC Ect. Plus now ther teams would have nothing to worry about if they go over the top paying players. College football players maybe getting fat raises son.
