A down season but no decline

"The decline is real."
LSU has had a lot of two and doners lately. It's bound to catch up to them.

you are correct. there are many in the SEC west that are damn glad LSU is having a rebuilding year and take every advantage to diss us.
the aggies, R Kansas and ole miss supporters are esp. happy.
we have struggled and may struggle some more but there is some damn outstanding talent on the LSU ballclub. this talent will emerge with a vengeance if it has leadership.

of course, unlike you aggies, LSU doesn't feel good about going 4th in the west.

All this ranking of SECW teams will be self determining shortly. frick any and all announcers. Stinchcomb normally is pretty smart.
Former SEC player at Georgia and in the NFL. (Saints I think?) Anyway, I generally respect his opinion, though its no more valuable than any other talking head.

Cause the west is really good this year, and they put too much stock into Texas Tech.

LSU beats the barn again.

Different person, though they may be brothers.

I agree with the ranking in the West this year but decline is ridiculous. If LSU was in this position with Jr's and Sr's then yes it could be a decline. However, this team is literally loaded with True Freshman who are making major impacts on the field. The future seems to be very bright. Don't see a decline.

Honest, objective opinion (although, granted, I'm an LSU fan): there is no decline.
This is a rebuilding year, no 2 ways about it. We had to replace our QB, RB, and both WRs, all of whom had exceptional years. We're going to take our lumps this season.
The exciting thing for Tiger fans is that the replacements are all freshmen and sophomores. These guys should be competitive this season (now that Harris is the QB), and should all progress together for the next several years.
That means no more incremental ups and downs for the offense, it should be increasingly better each season.

All the other posters mostly realize this.

What about a team that went into OT with a Winless SEC coach?

no idea. but it's hilarious considering the lsu fans here spent the entire offseason predicting a bama decline

State fans will be yodeling about this win for the next 20 years.
Once every 14 years they get something to crow about for 14 years.
To answer the OP, placing LSU in the cellar is good for ratings, is the trendy thing to say and LSU's defense against MSU often looked anemic and out of position which gives the claim some substance on the face of it. We will know a lot about the West late Saturday evening.
