Don't get me wrong I love the bowl win, but cheering and wanting to keep Butch after what could have been the last two seasons is not enough. I give the man great credit for bringing us out of the depths of hell as a program, but he cannot take the next step. Hopefully we have only one more season with him and with Hart gone we get a new AD that can find the guy that can step it up.

Jones will be hard to get rid of as long as fans continue to give him way more credit than he deserves for getting UT out of the "depths of hell" as you put it. Like it or not, but Dooley did most of the hard work laying it up for Jones to run with it.

Not sure what the hell Dooley did good for Tennessee. Three years ago wasn't the average age of your starters like 19? The group matured well and Butch should have done more with them than what he did, but Dooley was an absolute train wreck in comparison.

With the SECE only getting better, this was Butch's year to shine. I think he sealed his fate, unless some how UT can exceed mediocre expectations for next season.

Haven't you heard? With the great win against Nebraska, ut is the Preseason National Champion again next season. ESPN will have them favored in all of their games. Again.

My concern would be that last season the Vols were flying high after beating Northwestern in their bowl game and had talked themselves back into tolerating Butch.
Then this year happened.
Trust me, I understand buyer's remorse when it comes to your HC and how you can talk yourself into trusting him for one more season after a bowl win.

Are you talking about events on -this- planet?
Dooley was a diffident, disinterested recruiter. They didn't recruit in the Chattanooga area at all, to include north Georgia. He didn't build shite.
Dooley is -finally- not laughing all the way to the bank, the giant buyout put in place for him after Kiffin's minuscule one finally now having been paid out.

Based on how many people thought Dooley was a good coach and should be supported simply because he -was- the coach, yeah I would guess the fan base will rock along supporting Lyle indefinitely as long as he wins 9 or 10 games and beats UF and UGA.
Maybe in 10 years we'll snag the next Saban.
