Memphis basketball has the same impact on UT basketball as programs like Cincy or Xavier. Good program in the vicinity, but no impact on our program especially since you are afraid to play us now.

Shhhhhh! They don't know that and it's funny to watch people try to troll when they don't even know which buttons to push.

The petition spelled out it was NOT to FIRE Martin. The whole thing was made when it looked like he'd be fired but did not call for him being fired. The point was to show support for Pearl and ask that he be hired IF and only IF Martin were not to return/be fired but without encouraging or supporting any firing. This distinction escaped the media which reported it as a petition to fire Martin but that's not what it was.

So the intention was to just simply express support for a potential new coach, while still supporting the one currently in place? Do you not see how ridiculous that sounds?

My lame attempt at trolling. Though I do find it interesting that Memphis keeps Pastner while y'all let a coach go who took you to the Sweet Sixteen.

I totally respect that answer.

It was an online petition for frick's sake. It was signed by fake names, generated online, and signed online by anyone who wanted to sign it multiple times, including foreigners, fans of other schools, Bruce's PR team, and Homer Simpson. Do you know how ridiculous it is that people are taking it seriously? The media reporting that as a story would be like them reporting the worst trolls of the rant as representative of the SEC and the schools those trolls wear a name badge of.

Pat Forde is a university of Louisville homer and can go frick himself. I wish the ground under his Louisville home would open up and swallow him the way it did at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green.

Hmm... Knowing this I wish he'd have be swallowed instead of all those Corvettes. Forde is a dime a dozen but those 'vettes are irreplaceable.

The fans who couldn’t wait to get rid of Phil Fulmer now look back wistfully at those halcyon days, when the Volunteers could do things like beat Vanderbilt

That entire article was awesome, but that's my favorite part.

Louisville is a 3rd tier school in a 3rd tier conference (I don't even know what conference they play in). Pat Forde is jelly.

Wow, I actually read that. There was some truth sprinkled into skewed figures and sensationalism.

Anyone that watched UT all year and still thinks some great coach was lost, probably doesn't know a whole lot about the game. He is decent and I hope he does well, but Ut has done, and should do better.

Tennessee isn't some basketball powerhouse, but it is a top tier job in the conference. Just because UT isn't a basketball blue blood, doesn't mean we deserve shite programs like the majority of the conference.

I'm actually a little pissed Pastner is still here. He's a nice guy, but I want to see Memphis go farther in the tourney.

Yeah a lot of Memphis fans wanted to do a trade with us for Martin. From what I've heard tho, the fans are fed up with Pastner but the AD and boosters love the guy.

But they need an overhaul or they face a slow fade from power akin to Nebraska or some other school that simply doesn't have the natural resources to maintain great or elite status. The campus is a dump. It's in Knoxville, which is pretty terrible. The fan base, although nice enough, seem to be left over relics from an earlier time. Although not awful academically, they're not making waves in the way UGA or Florida or even Alabama or Auburn are.

So, you're saying we can't sustain ourselves? Parts of the campus are a dump, but thats true everywhere. Knoxville isn't a dump, theres a ton of stuff to do here and nearby and there are some really awesome parts of the city. Although We've had three straight 5-7 seasons, haven't won the sec or natty since 98 and haven't been to a bowl since 2010, we out-recruited everyone in your list except Alabama. We have incredible facilities, a national brand, and a huge fanbase. We'll be fine.
