We have won championships with AJ and Greg at QB.
Big difference was they were already at Bama for at least a year before starting.
Is Coker even on campus yet? WVU is less than 90 days away.

Coker has been there about a month fwiw.
Those gifs of JC were all from the shotgun.... and FSU uses a ton of shotgun. That's not really saban or kiffins style... will be interesting to see if he can adjust to more under center throws or will bama adjust their offense?

I don't get the he will either be amazing or suck balls mentality. He will be ok, control the ball, make the occasional play with his feet, and not frick up handoffs. Our Oline play this year is far and away more important to this team than Coker. If our Oline returns to form, we will be a 0/1 loss team, if not 2/3 losses. He won't throw for 3,000 yards or have 30 Tds, but we probably won't need him too. Just keep the D from stacking the box, and we have plenty of receiving talent to keep Ds honest. He is walking into a stacked offense with a good offensive mind in Kiff. Again, all about how that Oline plays.

I'd be more concerned that Kiffin is the O.C. than Coker at qb.

Coker would have been 3rd string at FSU had Trickett stayed.
Not true. Being third on the depth chart is the reason that Trickett transferred.
Coker is the real deal and I was dissappointed at first when Winston won the job. Of course that decision turned out pretty well..

I'm not really concerned about either. I didn't and don't like the Kiff hire, but if there is one thing I've learned, it's to trust Saban's judgement. Maybe Lane blows and we fire him after a year. Oh well. It's not like the OC at UA isn't a highly sought after job. I'm sure we could replace him easily. Chad Morris anyone??

His next job will be a HC.

This thread has been started before - with Cam Newton and Nick Marshall. Now it's Bama's turn. AU fans started it to tell us how great Cam (they were right) and Nick (who was very good) would be. No other fan base give them any chance for a variety of reasons:
"Cam couldn't hit the broad side of a barn" at Florida.
"Pick Marshall" was horribly inaccurate at Juco
Those guys turned out alright for their teams and I'm pretty sure Coker will be fine for his team.
That said, nothing posted in this thread is going to change either side's opinion. Coker will have to do that on the field and the rest is a colossal waste of energy.

He nearly did.

QBs have def proven that they can succeed quickly and in Year 1.
But for Every Cam, there is a Masoli.

You are right. That would be unrealistic and a pipe dream.

What are you confused about? He's never been a QB coach.
97-98 - Fresno St. (assistant)
99 - Colorado St. (OL)
2000 - Jacksonville (Office position)
2001 - USC (TE)
02-04 - USC (WR)
05-06 - USC (PGC/OC w/ Sark coaching QBs)
07-08 - Oakland head coach (John DeFilippo QB coach)
09 - Tennessee head coach (David Reaves QB coach)
10-13 - USC head coach (Clay Helton QB coach)

I don't remember those threads, and I've been here since 2009

How many years of eligibility will Coker have again?

Oh shut up. I guess you followed FSU football closely and remember how tight of a race it was?
Or wait, are you just BSing because you are a biased Bama fan? Yeahhhh, that's probably it.

His 50% completion rating and his interception vs Wake Forest!!!! What more do you need to know!

He's been coached by Jimbo Fisher for 3 years. Same Jimbo that's got 3 quarterbacks drafted in round 1. I see you say this all the time, you act like Coker just woke up from a coma and is going to have to learn everything about being a quarterback from Lane Kiffin. At this point, Coker has as good or better coaching than any QB in the country.

He's a "Home Run Hire"....nothing to worry about.
