I don't know where all the extra points came from recently. We were less than 7 points behind UG before.

You have a point. I checked the 'decade' rankings and from 1991-2000 we were 49 and from 2001-2010 we are 20.

Georgia Tech over Florida State

Yellow Jackets had 3 MNC's in the SEC and 1 in the ACC plus at least 3 HoF coaches. That makes sense.

UF is #4 and #2. Hince why UF history is since 1990.

Louisville is the lowest ranked BCS team at 98.

Furman from SC is above them at 96

LMAO @ that list.

I'm no Alabama fan as anyone here could attest but them at #7 is laughable.

Texas at #2 is also pretty ridiculous

Exactly, and just looking at wins is extremely flawed. Not all wins are created equal.

Do you think Boise State was the best program of the 2000's?

Who the Hell has ever said that? LSU was probably top ten in the late 70s, but the bad run in the 80s, and particularly the 90s, led to them being outside of the top 20.

All-time wins are just one piece of the puzzle. You have Michigan and Notre Dame that were literally playing no-one from two decades. Then you have Nebraska and Oklahoma that were the only two programs worth a damn in the Big 6/8 for half a century. Then there's Texas. They have one title in the last 40 years.

I'm just saying its the best way of seeing who has been winning and been doing it consistently for a long time.

I agree not all wins are the same.

No one in this thread is saying it, but I guess this reply was in response to all the 'LSU was nothing before 2000' threads.
You are right about the 1970's but
actually for LSU the 1980's was pretty decent - 6 ranked teams (1 in the Top 5), 5 NYD bowls, 3 SEC Titles and 7 winning seasons.
And FWIW, LSU overall in the 90's was 54-58, and won almost half of those in 1995-96-97 when we won three straight bowl games.
And actually, LSU was #12 in total number of NCAA victories """"""BEFORE"""""" 2000.
