That was a comically bad non call. I literally laughed out loud on that one.

Nope... The non call on the false start was worse.

The in-game ESPN ref basically said it wasn’t egregious so he wouldnt have called it. LOL

He didn't say that it wasn't egregious. What he said was that in order for it to be considered a hold you actually have to impede movement. The defender never changed direction and was content to run alongside the blocker. Therefore no movement was impeded and no hold occurred. I would add that the defender was content because his hands were stuck in Cleveland's facemask....

It was a hold. Plain and simple. End of argument.

It was but the lack of effort on the defenders part would have probably hold my flag as well, it was sad watching that boy let himself get abused

I love being a Gator fan. Never a bad call against us. Life is good.

He put his hand on the face mask in the last 10 or so yards. When the hold starts at the 40 the usc player is a step in front, by the end of the holding he is a step behind.

I agree it was definitely obvious and dumbfounding, but just playing devil's advocate here, because he really didn't seem to be putting up much of a fight, or he just flat out got weightroomed...(yep, a made up word lol)

ex head of officials said it wasn't a hold but the peanut gallery is so much better suited to pass judgment

Get over it...USCe lost and we won...end of story.

Why are people saying hold and not block in the back? He was literally at the guys back pushing the entire time

Are only there to defend officiating, nothing more.

There have been multiple incidents where the "expert" describes the rule while they simultaneously show video that directly contradicts what he is saying.

But then he still says its the right call.

Yes, worse call I have seen yesterday before the bama calls

The referee explanation was they were running side by side, lol

Looked like a hold to me when watching it live. Not sure why he even did that it was unnecessary. The false start was worse to me.

Not a gif but here’s a quick clip.
Longest Hold in History

Just lol at “well the reigning national defensive player of the week seemed content to just run beside the players and not make a TD saving tackle” explanation. I guess a missed call that bad deserves an equally bad explanation.
