We have many redeaming qualities. Hence why we embrace it.

Agreed Nado. Although I have no French Acadian in my heritage, I have many friends who are.
It's a shame that most people don't even realize that the original "Cajuns" - a derivation of the French "Acadian" - built cities and towns and commerce in Nova Scotia way before and during the Revolutionary War; but were torutured, killed and displaced (along with other non-Brits like Germans and Irish) by the Redcoats.
Many of the surviving French subsequently found their way to the new Acadiana in south central Louisiana and other areas of the country.
Less than 8% of Louisiana's 4.6 million residents are of French heritage. Many generations still live spread out all over the country.
