Money talks alright. But with TV contracts being what they are, everyone seems to have plenty of it. Les's salary is barely above the SEC average. You gonna give Saban, Harbaugh, or Meyer money to someone not named Saban, Harbaugh,or Meyer? Because unless you're willing to do that then money won't be what allows you to pull another BCS coach away from their current program. So, everyone can just drop the money BS.

I agree. While the Bama and Arky losses didn't help anything, they handcuffed him last night. It's not very fair to allegedly call him into the AD office to discuss his exit strategy in the middle of prep for a dangerous OM team, and then use it as more ammo to can him with.

I bleed purple and gold but sincerely disagree with the way Alleva his handling this. It's a pretty tough sell to tell a new potential coach "You have as long as you need to get everything right... Just make sure you beat arguably the greatest coach in the game every year.."

We're gonna end up with a Derek Dooley/Bill Calahan type that puts us in the ditch for 5 years. fricking stupid.

The SEC West record the last two years isn't going to cut it, and top 10 recruiting alone isn't going to get it done anymore. The division is tough, and his response hasn't been good enough.

This happens. People bad mouth guys like Fulmer and Mack Brown as if they never could coach, but if that were the case, they never would have had success. Both of these guys have a lot of similarities with Miles. In both cases, they were entrenched a little too long, were too slow to adjust, and too damn stubborn. Texas definitely waited a year too long with Brown. Tennessee probably acted at the right time, but just made a compete hash of their coaching search. In LSU's case, another year is likely too long. The last season and last three games have exposed where the program is.

The game passes good coaches by. It happened to Fulmer and Brown. Now it's happened to Miles. Hell, Bear Bryant was better than all three put together, and look at his closing stretch. Time eventually catches up to every coach.

SEC is all secretly scared of what LSU could become with a great coach. No secret we have the talent and recruiting base already in place. It's like handing a new coach the keys to a Ferrari.

I have the feeling LSU is about to have their RC Slocum/Mack Brown/Phil Fulmet type of period in football.

I love how I keep seeing the comments that are basically "we just need to hire an OC." Les miles fingerprints are all over this offenses. It doesn't matter who his OC is. It is still going to be the same offense. Either fire Les, or don't. There is no half measure worth taking at this point. LSU has already tried the new OC game anyways. Les Miles philosophy still reigns supreme. If the goals are championship oriented, then u fire him and move on. Things can most definitely get worse, but they aren't a championship caliber team right now. If the next guy doesn't have em playing top level football in 4-5 yrs, u fire him too. It creates instability and turnover and frustration at times. But if u want to win championships, u can't be afraid to fail. Alabama has had some truly terrible coaches over the years. And some GREAT ones. It's the best and worst job in college football at times. I think it's because the goals are clear : championships. If u don't think that guy can lead u there then u fire his arse.

It's very similar to the Mack Brown situation. They humiliated him on the way out, and ended up with Charlie Strong.

LSU won't embarass Miles.. and unless it gets nasty the LSU faithful will send this man out with a statue and he will be forever welcome in BR.

I'm hopeful that Miles can retire with an arse beating of A&M and a "Have a great day" speech where he heaps praise on his team and reminds them that being a quality person trumps everything.

They should pray he stays. LSU fans are fools if they want a new coach.

Les is the 9th highest paid coach in America and if he had won anything significant since 2011 his salary would be considerably higher. If they're acting like a 15 million dollar buyout is chump change, I'm assuming they're ready to spend big and feel that the expense is a necessity for them to put them where they want to be in the future.
