Lane Kiffin is still their head coach. Even if half their roster was first round NFL draft material, they couldn't overcome Kiffin's stupidity.

Anybody remember this from his Raiders days?

76 yard FG or trust JaMarcus Russell with the ball? This was the better call.

I'm no fan of Kiffin but you do realize there was 1 second left on the clock right? why not try it, if you miss it's no big deal

The other major flaw is that their hopes hinge on the top 22 staying healthy. That is not likely. The offense is strong but I haven't been impressed with the defense at all. LSU/Bama would pound them and make them quit in the 4th lke they do every other team. I am definitely hoping for the matchup to happen.(preferably LSU/USC but could live with it if Bama) They need to be taught a lesson for the whole country to see. Maybe then the media will truly grasp that college football now lives and dies in the SEC and just accept it.

Don't worry about the fact that they were only up five in the fourth and gave up 29 points to a Syracuse team that lost it's opener as well. USC's ranking is a testament to why the AP poll is such a joke.

Because, you take the knee and run the clock out. A short kickoff is returnable, which is one reason why no one else does it.

They would get mauled by the bigger fronts of the sec. Lsu, bama, Georgia in particular

Cuse lost 42-41 to NW.

Would it make you feel better about USC if Cuse had scored two more points?

...and Michigan almost lost to Air Force. And Bama was up 21-0 to freakin' Western Kentucky at halftime.

And Oklahoma beat UTEP 24-7.

And FSU has beaten Murray State and Savannah State.

It's early in the season - a little presumptuous to be claiming other teams should be taking USC's ranking because they didn't demolish an actual FBS team.

Yeah, because they would have won and not lost. But they didn't and they lost so I don't have to feel any particular way because that is what happened. They did in fact lose.

Where was this a discussion of Michigan? Alabama fans will be the first to admit they looked like shite against WKU. But they still won 35-0 and the game was never in doubt. A five point game in the fourth is in doubt.

I'm not sold on either team and feel like other teams merit being ranked above them.

I hate preseason rankings. But we have them. USC has no defense and is a one-trick pony. Their ranking is a complete translation of how media can prop up an undeserving team.

Just pointing out...Bama's win against Michigan (their reason for jumping to #1 in the polls) doesn't look so amazing after this week.

I'll be the first to admit USC doesn't look like world beaters...but I'm not sure anyone does.

And FSU is a complete unknown while OU has struggled to move the ball...and Oregon is still on their preseason schedule.

Funnily enough, only the teams down near the bottom of the Top 25 have actually proved something on the field.

It's early - week 2...teams get better or stay the same...and USC will have plenty of opportunities to be exposed with the PAC 12 scoring a zillion points against the Big 12 and Big10 over this weekend.

And OU is deserving or FSU? Hell most of the teams have yet to prove they're deserving. Nobody has played anyone good. Give it a rest. You act like the Top 10 is full of great teams that have beaten great teams. Who have you beaten?

This. They better be able to put up some points on Oregon, because their defense will not stop the ducks.

You're talking about practice. Not a game. Practice.

Maybe you missed the part where I said that other teams merit being ranked ahead of these two teams. Particularly FSU, who has beaten nothing but patsies and plays in a putrid conference. They can ill afford to justify that type of scheduling IMO. Pretty frustrating that they will only be rewarded for such a schedule though.
