I'm aware of where he sits on draft boards. Smoke and mirrors based on a gaudy INT total in one season. You won't convince me otherwise until the draft actually happens, and he is taken in the first round. His draft stock will go nowhere but down. Bookmark it and let me know when(if) I end up being wrong.

Kiper must not have watched the Tennessee game. His cockiness got him burnt by Patterson first. Then where was his "sense of when to improvise" when he got no safety help and then got burned by Zach Rogers?

Fact is, he was at least partially responsible for those two pass plays, both for td and > 40 yards. State has given up a TOTAL of 3 pass plays > 40 yards in 18 games under the current DC. And the first 12 of those games were with a CB across from Banks that isn't nearly as effective in coverage as Slay is now...

Will be very surprised if you beat us deep even once. We are going to play off the line and take away the homerun threat. We will allow Bray to dink and dunk us to death, IMO. This will likely lead to him getting impatient and making mistakes eventually.

Chad Bumphis has better numbers that Patterson and more TDs than Hunter.

Bumphis is licking his chops towards this weekend.

Tennessee with the #73 pass defense, vs State's previous opponents: Jackson State at #18 (FCS), Auburn at #31, Troy at #36, and Kentucky at #38.

Or is that Ladarius Perkins licking his chops at Tennessee's #86 run defense?

Found him... #21 on Kiper's draft board for 2013.

Kiper's Comments:

Better game against Florida State -- was physical and active. Has good cover skills and size that could have him coveted as a safety as well. A sixth sense for when to improvise, Amerson will drop routes to make plays. Has the size and speed to match up with any receiver; freelances effectively

In fairness, Amerson is just as good....as Darius Slay.

Banks? That speaks for itself. Good job completing...uhhhh...zero passes against him tonight

Cobi Hamilton literally got more yards against Rutgers than Patterson has got all year long. And shite Rutgers is ranked and undefeated.

Banks is really good but the other one is really really underrated. he shut down one side of the entire field against mallett in 2009 as a RS freshman.

Slay is our other DB who is impressive. He wasn't here in 2009. You're probably talking about Broomfield. He's now at safety.

That RS freshman from 2009 is now our strong safety who picked off the pass before half. He was our starting corner until Slay beat him out this year, name is Corey Broomfield and yes he is also a beast. This is why we talk up our secondary.

I'm excited about this game, always a battle. Bama is only about 50 miles from Starkville so I end up going there quite a bit.

Yup and both teams should be Undefeated so hopefully we might see a little College Gameday action in Tuscaloosa, if you've never been for it skirp it's worth going to see it's an awesome time and the Quad is usually packed since a lot of students come from Starkville

Agreed.

Darius Slay also... granted he won't be a likely first rounder, but his stock is on the rise

Patterson is just shy of 800 AP yards with 6 TDs.

I almost went to Bama and always make it to a few games a year. Always sit in a box with some family friends so it's hard for me to truly release the grind but this could be the year it sneaks out.

Never know man if a guys film is good enough, great example last year is USCe CB Gilmore, who I was extremely high on, but no one had him going as high as top 15 or so this time last year he was a early 3rd late 2nd rounder projection

I watched a good bit of the secondary tonight and I like Slay, the one who was impressive was that S that had the INT, but Miss St's group of DBs are definitely talented

Not sure but I think like 5'11 190. Whitley is bigger Around 6 feet and 210 and then banks and slay are 6'2 and 6'1 respectively. They are pretty tall as far as secondaries go.
